Michael Wareing Consultant ENT Surgeon

Michael was absolutely brilliant. I had been struggling with hearing loss in one ear for nearly 3 months and been told by my GP that I'd have to wait 8 weeks for an NHS referral and worried into thinking it was potentially something serious. I was feeling incredibly low. Michael was highly professional, took on board everything I said and after an examination of my ears and an ear micro-suction session, my hearing returned. I am very relieved and would highly recommend Michael, I am very glad I went to see him!

I would give 10 stars if I could. I cannot thank Michael Wareing enough! After not being able to hear properly for 6 months as a result of an acute ear infection as a result of Covid, I had started lost hope and my brother researched the best ENT in London, and booked me and appointment with Dr Wareing as a last glimpse of hope of regaining my hearing back to normal. He is truly an expert and there’s a reason he’s one of the most respected ENT doctors in the UK. Very professional and formal, done several tests and conducted the grommet insertion and later removal under local anaesthesia in his treatment room. As you can imagine it’s not a pleasant experience but he is very patient, gentle and understanding and far quicker than I expected. As uncomfortable as it was, I was glad I was in good hands. He drained the liquid from behind my ear drum and after a few weeks my hearing is back and better than ever. I was misdiagnosed by the NHS and given 4 months of courses of antibiotics that made me very unwell. The combination of Dr Wareing prescribing steroids as well as the liquid removal fixed snd regained my hearing and I haven’t had an infection since. If I had waited for the NHS, the next available ENT appointment was in 11 months.I cannot thank you enough, if you are having any problems with your hearing, ear infections etc please don’t leave it as long as I did in hope of getting an NHS appointment or wait in hope that it will get better, be assured you are in the best hands.

I just want to say thank you to Mr. Wareing and his able assistant Rebecca. From the very first consultation Mr. Wareing knew exactly what was wrong with me but he recommended doing an MRI scan to confirm his diagnosis. His able assistant Rebecca helped me to immediately book the appointment. Following the diagnosis, Mr. Wareing facilitated getting my operation done in conjunction with a team of Neurologists and other experts.I can't say thank you enough to Mr. Wareing and his team. They did a fantastic job, the operation was smooth and successful. I am so glad and blessed to have met Mr. Wareing. I'm under Mr Wareing's treatment and can only say how happy I am with everything - from his excellent assistant, Rebecca, to the standard of advice and care I've received from Mr Wareing himself as well as the hospital team at the London Clinic.Being ill is an unpleasant time, but professionals of this calibre make it far more bearable and much easier to see and then realise a route forwards.

Mr Wareing was attentive, friendly and highly professional. I felt at ease throughout the appointment and appreciated him taking the time to listen to a rather long description. Mr Wareing is a brilliant surgeon who I met back in November 2011 and have been under his care ever since. I was originally being seen locally for an ear problem but was not happy with the care I received and the manner in which I was spoken to, so I decided to look slightly further afield and found Mr Wareing after a few hours of research. My primary concern was to find someone who showed an interest in my profession as a part-time music teacher which is exactly what Mr Wareing did from the moment I met him. When I first went to Mr Wareing, I had a probable diagnosis of Menieres disease (something that a lot of people know nothing about) however Mr Wareing was highly knowledgeable about balance related disorders and Menieres is one of his specialities. Mr Wareing is a very kind and caring person who has the ability to instantly put his patients at ease. At the initial consultation he took lots of notes and came up with a treatment plan which was initially 3 steroid injections, 1 a day for 3 days which meant three four hour return train trips down to London which were well worth it even though they didn't work but I wanted to try this treatment before going down the more drastic route of having surgery. After a few further months of further ear infections etc, we decided that Mr Wareing should operate and he carried out the Endolymphatic Sac Surgery on my right ear in 2012. Two years later I then had the same operation on my left ear as well as surgery to sew up a hole caused by endless grommets as a youngster and as an adult which wouldn't heal itself. Since then I have had limited ear problems and have had constant check ups throughout the six years. I would highly recommend Mr Wareing as he is extremely professional, very kind, very caring and most and best of all has his patients best interests at heart. I am also very fortunate that he is only an e-mail away if I have any other issues with my ears between appointments. Thank you Mr Wareing for doing a brilliant job of looking after me as a patient and for ensuring that my music is still a big part of my life!

I completely disagree with John Ball. Mr Wareing is a very straightforward person who will tell you if he can or can't do something. I had a very odd 'robotic' sound coming from my ear, I went to Mr Wareing and he spotted something of concern and immediately made me have my scans and operated on my ear within a number of days. I was expecting to loose my hearing but thanks toMr Wareing and divine luck I have it with me for now. I was even expecting a huge scar in the back of my head, but even the scar is neatly tucked away behind my ear.
