Began a UC claim while I have been working part-time, after spiralling into debt following dramatic rent and bill increases, I didnt particularly want to claim benefits to be honest but needed the help. Told in first JC appointment I'm eligible for full amount but no word of what deductions would be (I thought there could be some but nothing about deductions during meeting). Offered an advance payment to meet rent and help me out, with repayments of £46. Well... deductions from my UC are actually about 50% of the total eligibility, so after deductions I would receive £150, fair: but repayments take up a third of that. Ive rung, begged, cried, asking for reduced repayments until I'm working more hours but nothing. They were deferred for 3 months but funnily enoygh living costs havent got less so i'm still struggling. Welfare" check phone call from Mandy at Hastings Service Centre after i was hysterical on the phone trying to talk to a supposed "case manager" who never responded to me or helped with anything and ended up hitting myself to try and stop the meltdown... Mandy made it worse. Fortunately I had her on speaker so my sister heard it allIncessant lies

The security is amazing, super helpful and friendly. The staff at the appointment department however are interesting. because it's not a service occupation they're rude af, so just try to not curse at them and you'll be fine

Automated voice system is a minefield (I just wanted some person to person advice) channeling questions towards social financial benefits, anything else the system goes into meltdown!Transferred (automatically ) to a customer services advisor" held on x 30 minutes being advised to go on line ......then I gave up !Oh well

The G4S security guard named Sam was making inappropriate and mocking comments to a visitor. He was making comments such as at least I have a job"

After 10 months of unemployment I reluctantly made an appointment and was lucky enough to see the amazing Paula. I walked in a broken man and she went above and beyond what I was expecting, giving me excellent advice and making me feel that she genuinely cared. I walked out with a clear plan of action, my only regret being that I hadn't seen her sooner.I don't know why some of the reviews on here are so hostile, the job centre team are a great service and people should appreciate them a bit more.

All due respect, but what a bunch of incompetent staff, including the manager. Staff need to get up to standards regarding law and dealing with the public.
