My friend from Australia was given an out of use postcode to return vehicle. I tried to phone Hertz on the number given, a premium rate call, no answer om both occasions. Fortunately I followed him so he could return his car on time. Poor service me thinks from a supposed reliable firm.

Dear Firefly/Hertz Team,your customer service form is not working and I cannot find an email address, so I am trying here. I have rented a car with you via Firefly from 20 August to 3rd September with a full-full tank agreement. However, the tank was only half full when I got the car (see the photo attached). Could you please let me know how to proceed - return the car half full or return it full and get a refuns for the half tank?Thank you and kind regardsSabrinaPS to other customers: Besides the tank and customer service struggle, we got a lovely clean car from a nice member of staff after a short wait and were not talked into any additional insurances.

We hired a car from Hertz Gatwick and after returning it we received an email a couple of hours later advising there was a small scratch which they were charging us £55.00 for and a further £45.00 for damage administration!!! We don't believe the damage was done when we had the car and it's so minor even if we had checked the car at hire probably wouldn't have noticed it as it was a very small scratch.Not impressed at the charge and feel extremely ripped off. We have traveled right across Europe with no other issues with car rental companies except this one- wish I had read the poor reviews first!

A very good experience overall.Car (Electric Polestar) was clean and excellent. Most charging experiences were painless, only two were problematic, and nothing to do with the car.Picking up was not so nice an experience since Hertz Gatwick decided to change their counter opening time to 8 and, not the 6 am indicated on Google maps. Not helpful when your flight lands at 6 am, and you have to wait 90 minutes to collect the car. Staff, when they arrived, were helpful though.Dropping off was painless and quick

Shocking service, will never use again. I rented a car with an agreed time of pick up and drop off. I arrived a bit early but told the agent I could wait until my agreed time. He said no that it was ok. I returned the car at the agreed time 5 days later. They then charged me an extra days rental because I did not return it at the new time the agent had changed it to because I came a bit earlier. We are only talking about 30 minutes here. They also charge that extra day at 300%+ more than I rented the car for. I explained that the agent never told me that I had to drop the car 30 minutes earlier than the agreed time, because he changed it. He never informed me. Initially they accepted my reasons and said they would change it. Then they changed their mind! They refuse to listen and have taken the money from my bank account already. No good will, no acceptance for their part in it and most of all no intention or ability to be reasonable about it. Am amazed this company still can run a business like this. Stay clear of them.

This was not a nice experience. My wife and I planned a 12 days holiday in Sussex.I am used to driving on the right side of the road and sitting on the left side when driving. I do not want to shift gears with my left arm. To be sure that we had a car with an automatic gearbox, we booked a small automatic car one month in advance, and we also paid the car rental in advance. It costs extra with an automatic, but it is worth it. It should be a Ford Fiesta or similar. We also announced which flight and time we should arrive.On arrival, we went to Hertz to pick up our automatic car. The man at the desk told us that they did not have an automatic car, but we could have a manual.That was not what we booked and paid for. When he suggested that we could have an electric Polstar, we asked how the possibilities to charge were. No clear answer, just that we could look at the map. Not so service minded person.So, how ended this. Unsure where to charge the car, we took the manual car. We also had to argue that we should get a refund for the extra we paid for an automatic car.This was the last time we used Hertz.

I don't think I've ever written a negative review on Google, but here is a first. We were charged over £35 for a fuel charge when we returned the tank absolutely full. In addition, when we initially picked up the car, the tank was not even full. We sent Hertz a picture of the less-than-full tank on the day of our pick up, and also submitted fueling receipt from the airport gas station on the day of our drop-off. As for working with customer service, they seem to be either sloppy in their work or deliberately misleading, interpreting our photo as taken when we returned it, not when we picked up the car. Renter beware.

Would not recommend unless you want to be scammed/ripped off! They claimed there was a scratch on the rim (sent photos and there is not one tiny scratch). Charged £150 for a non-existent scratch!! Be careful with giving them your card, they will take money from you for nothing!! Be aware!
