Dewsbury and District Hospital

Disgusted how the member of staff spoke on the phone regarding changing an appointment. People are coming to the hospital seeking help with their problems - not to have receptionists to be awkward and unprofessional. Very poor service!

I had a gallbladder operation in November, the care I received from all the staff was excellent, efficient and successful , I had very little need of any pain relief afterwards and wish to state my appreciation to all concerned. Well done.

It's always comforting to have a nurse like Karen (ward 12/14) who was brilliant, polite and efficient. It makes the whole experience much more pleasant.

Just wanted to share the care and attention these Nurses and Doctors so deserve on Ward 8 of the Acute health and care of the Elderly. They released my 92 year old dad today who I really thought would not get out of there but I listened to all of their advice. Wow what a team NHS thankyou, im ordering my dad a hospital bed to make his last weeks, months hopefully year or 2 more comfortable. Thankyou for listening to me xx

Impossible to get through to a ward, a good 6 times I have been trying only to either be cut off or have to listen to music and then having to hang up as been waiting over 30 mins! Not good, not good at all when you are worried about someone in hospital!

Just plain horrible. My dad got admitted to A&E after having a fall while visiting as an outpatient. Massive thanks to the nurse in that sent us to A&E as he needed to go there. A&E were excellent a long wait but sent to a ward after about 6 hours. He was put in ward 9 which is the acute ward which was a bit dated but fine. The next day he was moved to ward 15 which is truly horrific! There were people who had messed themselves & were shouting nurses but the nurses were just ignoring them. One particular nurse was trying to fix a bed that had no one in while the patient in the next bad was saying he had wet himself. The person in the next bed to mt dad bizarrely was walking around the ward naked for some reason. All in all a horrific experience which I hope no one should ever have to go through

Mum was send from A and E Pinderfields, where she received excellent care, to ward 9 ant Dewsbury . The Elderly care consultant from Pinderfields recommended she stay in ward 9 over weekend for observation. Saturday morning a dewsbury consultant saw her( mum has Alzheimer’s) and decided she was fine to go home. I arrived and occupational health did not act in our concerns that ‘something wasn’t right ‘ . We were clear about her sudden confusion etc and she was discharged. No-one could be bothered and to be honest we took her straight home and back to our brilliant GP’s at Outwood Medical Centre. I can understand why the hospital was judged ‘Requires improvement’.

Took my 91 year old Grandma to be seen in the walk-in/emergency department. She was seen incredibly quickly, and tests completed by two lovely nurses within 30 mins of arriving. She was looked after so well, the consultant who saw her was reassuring and caring. Couldn’t believe the exceptional and quick care that she received. So incredibly grateful for the amazing team in the department- thank you so much.

Absolutely horrendous. Came in with my 9 week old baby. She was crying and crying in pain. 5 hours later still not been seen. It’s disgusting how they can leave a 9week old newborn.

An outstanding experience! I attended children's outpatient ward for my baby's blood test. Ladies were professional, determined to make a difference for the better, and really understanding. To my surprise, my daughter was smiling and laughing instead of crying trough the procedure! Really good service, exceptional staff! Thank you!
