Nice day out from Cardiff for relaxing lunch in Pen y cae, on the edge of Brecon National Park. Mini Zoo gardens and outdoor seating.We sat inside, upstairs in the conservatory. Lift available for those with challenges.

Lovely food, and staff are very friendly. Service was quite slow when we went for a group meal a few weeks back, however we were not the only group in so can understand why. The animals are also a lovely touch!

Fabulous pub, the staff are excellent and efficient. Food was good but a but 'pub norm'. The specials were fish dishes and pizza. Well worth the drive and a family style menagerie with cranes, meerkat, goat and surprisingly wallabies. Loved it.

A great welcome and service from the wonderful staff, our lunch was delicious, thankyou... the 2 large Parrots and other animals out in the back garden were a great surprise.

Where do I even start. We were getting married on Nov 4th 2023 at Craig Y Nos Castle down the road and wanted to have our own space this is when we found the Claire and Paula at the PenYCae Inn. They have the Oak Lodge cottage available on Air b and b next door the inn and we jumped at the chance to rent it. The pub the zoo the cottage were top tier. They looked after us just like family and even helped us with a wash and dry before we headed to Prague and Berlin for our honeymoon.There was a huge mistake made my Craig Y Nos and they triple booked my wedding week with other wedding when it was supposed to be ours for the week so I had to figure out how to get my 60 guests out of the castle for the day and for dinner and the best decision we made was picking PenYCae for the dinner part of our day!They took care of our family and friends like they were theirs they catered the best food i have ever tasted to us with fast and efficient service and they made it feel like home. Paula was stunning and was the calm to a really rocky storm.Thank you a million times over and we will be back to celebrate our anniversary one of these years!Xxx

Amazing pub, great service from friendly and cheerful staff, generous food portions that tasted great. They even have Parrots in the beer garden who are very chirpy. Massively grateful for them looking after such a big group, 19 of us !!! we loved it xx
