I work next to the cafe and often go in and pick up a quick meal deal in my lunch break. There’s a lovely Barista/server named Charlotte who remembers all the locals by name. They absolutely beam when she greets them and chats to them. It just creates such a lovely atmosphere whenever she’s on shift.

Going Downhill,So times are hard and everything is declining in quality in general, and that's been the case the last few times I've come here. That being said I was surprised when the ham and cheese toastie heated up at the store I ordered started to make me feel ill. I realised that the cheese was either gone off, or unhygienically handled. I had to gargle with something to prevent myself from throwing up.What made it worse is the bread I brought from the store. When tasting the bread at home it's clear it was very very close to being stale. For anyone who has baked a sourdough you'll know that'll actually take a few days to happen, so it must have been on their shelves for some time. Not even toasting was able to breath life into it, instead the bread collapses and becomes thin and soft, unlike a proper slice of fresh sourdough that'll become firm.Unfortunately I then tasted a slice that actually had mould on it so it had to be discarded.I'm just very surprised of the decline in quality here. We're now in a place where the M&S Sourdough is better than this artisan bakery.I'll give them another try in the new year to see if they've improved, really for old time sake as I used to pop into here as a little treat, and it was just great in their heyday, and was a great shop for the area. But for now, I cannot recommend as there are many reliable alternatives out there.

Nice community bakery serving a selection of sweet and savoury bakes and snacks - hot chocolates are tasty (offering sweet or bitter). Welcoming spot for family, friends catch up or place to read and enjoy the world go by.

Coffee was not to my liking. Also the lamingtons were very odd. Thick heavy cake instead of light sponge cake and the thick cream between the layers had an odd taste. Not at all what I expected. Didn't enjoy the experience. People were friendly though.

As others have mentioned, it is not the cheapest but quite a nice bakery/cafe. I had the cinnamon bun and hot chocolate to go. The cinnamon bun was a little too sweet for me but the sweet hot chocolate was amazing!

An excellent find. The prices are expensive but they match the quality of the food. The atmosphere is relaxed but business like for people to be working on there laptops. And a great music playlist. The reason I stayed for and extra coffee. Friendly and professional staff. Well worth a visit.

Coffee and bread are great. It's good to have good coffee on the high street close to the cinema, because all you get are the coffee chains. They do sell their own merchandise in the shop. The only reason for 4 star is the WiFi hardly worked and a man in the corner talked so loudly on the phone conducting his business" from the cafe that it was hard for others to relax and/or concentrate on their work."

Really liked this cafe, very chilled out atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Fantastic range of cakes and baked goods. I loved the turmeric coconut smoothie and they make a great flat white.Great for allergies with DF and GF drink and food options.

The atmosphere is as warm as the people who work there. Pretty cold and uncomfortable seats. The service was as disappointing as the food.

This had to be one of the most bizarre experiences I’ve had recently. I walked in, smiling as I always do, looking forward to trying the mince pies with a chai. The staff, all female, looked at me in turn as though I’d kicked their dog! Are men not welcome here? Always been a fan of Blackbird but had never come to this branch before, won’t come again, gruesome recruiting. Still giving 5 stars for the food rating as I know the quality never lets down.
