Red 2 Green Driving School

I was taking driving lessons from Red2Green and my instructor was Russell. I have not seen such an unprofessional instructor for a while. He is often in a bad mood, grumpy, and he overcriticizes even minor mistakes. I suspect that due to the high demand of driving lessons, such instructors get away with their unprofessional behaviour. One morning I asked him to pick me from a different location. He suddenly refused, and stopped teaching me by saying that he is not a taxi service. I strongly recommend against taking lessons from this school or avoid Russell being your instructor.

Booked lessons with Mark, who was very friendly, easy to talk to and most importantly, very knowledgeable. After issues with a different driving school, I passed first time with Mark, who simplified everything and gave me confidence heading into the test. Would definitely recommend booking lessons with Red 2 Green. You won't regret it.

Russell taught both me and my partner. Very patient, accommodating, encouraging and good banter. We enjoyed our lessons with him and cannot recommend him enough.

Although I had my Canadian automatic licence, learning to drive a manual car on the 'wrong' side of the road seemed like an impossible task. Russell was a great instructor, very patient and explained how to do all the manoeuvres very clearly. He knows the local area and different test routes inside out. He was also good fun to spend time with and I really enjoyed my lessons. Thanks to Russell, I was able to pass my driving test first time! I have already recommended Russell and Red 2 Green to my friends looking for driving lessons in Edinburgh.

I passed my test (on my first attempt!) a week ago, and in hindsight I think I was really lucky to find Russel in my first search to find myself a driving instructor.I have heard unsettling stories from friends and acquaintances over the years of bad, disrespectful or just downright foul instructors, but I am fortunate enough to say I have not experienced that aspect of drivers learning. Russel was punctual with timing, respectful, sociable and most of all excellent at teaching and communication. As well as instructing me how to drive physically, he also taught me how the basic inner mechanics of the components I was using (like the gear box) worked as well.I could not recommend Red2Green enough, I will certainly be rating it to anyone I know who is looking for an instructor in the future.James

Russell has been brilliant over the past few months. I had never had any formal driving lessons before and had no clue what I was doing. With Russell's 2 hour lesson and great teaching style I was driving in no time. The lessons are taken at a reasonable pace and finish with a chat about how it went each lesson. Unfortunately I am moving so have had to get a new instructor, Russell even helped with that. I highly recommend Red 2 Green!

I had been struggling with driving lessons for ages due to a lack of confidence and Mark was great at making me see that I could drive and just needed to believe in myself. Having failed my test twice with a previous instructor I was often tempted to give up but after just a few lessons with Mark I managed to pass my test and feel so much happier and relaxed driving. I would highly recommend him, particularly to those who are lacking in confidence.

Russel was an excellent teacher and a really lovely person. I passed my test first time with 1 minor and I credit my instructor for the result. The lessons were of a very high standard. The instructions provided are very clear and you are given feedback throughout the duration of the lessons to ensure you do not continue to repeat bad habits or to explain any faults in greater detail. Each lesson is planned and structured and you will know the test route in great detail by the time you sit your test. I would recommend Russel to anyone. I am leaving as a confident driver who feels safe and competent to be on the roads without my instructor.

Russell was an excellent instructor who prepared me well for my test. Every lesson was clear, helpful, and considered. The whole run of my lessons was well planned out to ensure I learned the basics properly. I was always able to get help with specific questions and Russell always did a good job of explaining in detail and taking the time to be sure learning was bedded in. Overall: Completely RecommendStarted my driving lessons after a couple of years off and had Russell as my driving instructor and couldn’t recommend him enough. Passed my exam on my first attempt with just 3 minors.I found the 2hr lessons far more effective than the 1hr you get with other instructors and in terms of Russell’s teaching, he was completely professional, clear and insightful. From driving techniques to providing insight of the inner workings of the car, each lesson I felt progression. Furthermore, we didn’t waste too much time on anything that came naturally and focused on weaker areas, quickly allowing me to get to a test standard. In terms of scheduling, we arranged a regular lesson pattern that allowed me to plan around my work.Other than being a great instructor, Russell is genuinely a friendly chap with a ton of experience and any learner would be lucky to have. Cannot recommend him highly enough!
