Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience York
Truly amazing experience especially the first hall where videos of van gogh’s artwork projected on a loop. Highly recommended. Facilities are clean and well maintained. Kids enjoyed the drawing room section

Fantastic, immersive sensory experience. A different way to enjoy art. I would recommend the place to autistic people looking for a relaxing break from the hustle and bustle of visiting York attractions and navigating the crowds.

Absolutely loved this, pictures can't do this experience justice. Great for anyone who likes Van Gogh's work. My only complaint is I think the VR experience should be included in the price

I definitely recommend visiting here when in York! The main room, which you enter first is absolutely amazing. A 35 minute looped film is played on a projector, all around the room so you really feel like you are in the painting. The animations are clear, great quality and vibrant. You can really get a feel of Van Gogh’s life story through the animations. There’s deckchairs in the middle of the room if you want to watch the animations whilst reclined. Alternatively, there’s benches along the side of the room which are rather comfy. After watching the animation, there are several other rooms where you can have a closer look at some of the paintings, and read about Van Gogh’s personal life. There’s a lovely little gift shop at the end with Gogh inspired items. There is also an additional VR experience which is £3 extra pp (I think?) however I can’t comment on that because we didn’t do it.We will definitely be back here as it is such a magical experience!

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience York
Has the potential to be so much better, was good, was very informative, but it's basically a 45 minute room projection and some posters, pictures and where he lived. The best bit in my opinion was the VR , which you had to pay £3 extra for on top of the entry fee, which at £15 I felt was a little overpriced.

Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience York
This was brilliant, I'm not a massive fan of galleries but this was sit in a deck chair and look at images projected onto screens and the church walls. They have animated the paintings but just by mving elements of it so it is stil Van Gogh's work. The video element runs constantly for 35 minutes and doesn't have a start or finish so no waiting for the next showing. No voice overs other than some quotes by VG. There is a small exhibition of high Res replicas of his work and a replica of his bedroom.

If you're a Vincent Van Gogh lover, or a lover of his art work, it's definitely worth a visit! It's a calming thoughtful experience and lovely to watch. The little exhibition/experience afterwards which shows more of his artwork and insight into his work is unexpected but really interesting. Definitely worth it if you're a fan of Van Gogh's work!
