Storthes Hall Park

Party of ten. Including four young kids. Late Saturday afternoon. Bit out in the sticks. Attractive interior but not plush. Not sure if it wants to be a proper restaurant or a cafe attached to a leisure/University centre. Interesting menu though pricey for starters and desserts for the size of portion. Service was spasmodic though adequate. We were the only punters for most of the time. We may return though not a given.

Very disappointed with my stay over the year, very poor service, nothing like described, would not recommend to any students wanting to live there in the coming years

Visited Storrhes Hall for a relatives 60th birthday party. Impressed with the location, clean and tidy establishment and the bar staff friendly.

Visited this beautiful Victorian Park last Saturday for a Wedding, which took place in the bandstand. We had a stroll around parts of it, but didn't get to explore as much as I would have liked. We were lucky with traffic and got there in about 1hr 30mins. But I would leave 2hrs to get there, from Crewe. I would love to go for a weekend getaway and perhaps spend a good half day there. There is a nature trail, beautiful fountain and gardens and I saw a playground over in the distance. Plenty of free parking along the street. The toilets were closed on Sat...unfortunately for a number of guests. The views over the Dale was stunning.

Went to The Venue for lunch & a round of mini (crazy) golf. The lunch was very good and the mini golf good fun. The Venue is a really nice place, with off-rooms with sofas, a games room with a couple of pool tables & a large room which is a live music venue. Recommended.

Large countryside and woodland setting with residential campus for university students and on site accommodation for visitors. There is a bar/restaurant function centre called The Venue on site which hosts live music, events, crazy golf and cinema. There is also a small shop. The rooms are comfortable en suite and each unit has a shared kitchen area for self catering or food can be ordered from the venue. Lots of dog walkers use the parkland. Accommodation is good value. Though the venue is accessible for customers with disabilities the grounds have lots of steps and slopes and the area in front of the Venue itself is on multiple levels with lots of steps some of which are not very easy to see so if you have mobility problems or a visual impairment you might find it challenging. There is a lift to the first floor function room but you have to find and ask a member of staff to operate it which staff were very helpful with. There is a problem with mobile phone reception on this site particularly with ability to send emails.

Did a 9 hole crazy golf and meal deal for £18.95 for two (group on). You can choose any main upto the price of £11 or pay the difference. We both had piri piri burgers which were delicious and juicy. The staff were friendly and attentive. Excellent service.

We used a Groupon offer. Lovely food and due to the late sun in October we were able to sit outside. The pub could do with more staff as service was slow but the food was still excellent
