Leasehold Advisory Service

Arranged a telephone appointment a week in advance. I called the number at the allotted time, only to be told I was no.6 in a queue! When I reached the front of the queue (after 15 minutes), the phone just rang then eventually cut me off. I called back twice. Each time I was told they could not locate the client number (provided by them in their email to me!). Hung on listening to a ringing phone for 5 minutes then gave up.I'm updating my above review. I received a call from the LAS around 4;30pm the same day and fortunately I was able to take the call. I was given full advice by Osa about the legal position and directed to the relevant sections of the Landlord and Tenant Act.

Craig was exceptionally knowledgeable and was so easy to talk to. He sent emails and links as and when he said he would. He was extremely professional in all aspects.If you’re a leaseholder and need advice the LSA are fantastic and it’s free. I would highly recommend contacting them. First Class.

Craig is a fantastic legal adviser! Very pleasant to deal with. Great listener, sharp, great communicator. Although he could not help on my most burning question on stamp duty for a lease extension, he gave me crucial advice on what to look out for, provided links to info sources and to a database of solicitors who can help me answering my stamp duty questions. I called for advice regarding responsibility of a water pipe and buildings insurance excess according to my lease for a shared ownership flat. Unfortunately I was not provided with the answer to my first query regarding the pipes on the call as I was advised that the service needed to see my lease to be able to answer so I needed to send a copy of my lease. I have subsequently done this along with query but received no response over a week later. I was also unable to ask my second question as the advisor didn’t allow me much time to speak but instead kept asking/telling me the same thing although I had already explained the answer to her question.

Craig Hutchinson at the LAS gave very clear and concise explanations of the process I needed to undertake over an issue arising. All points I needed to know at this stage were explained using largely non-technical terms, and any technical matter was explained. The manner of the call was thoroughly 'professional', positive and polite. Excellent service that has helped me a lot.

I initially spoke to Craig Hutchinson over the telephone regarding a query on our sinking fund. He was very professional with the advice given and more importantly made it easy for me to understand. I am 75 and not as sharp as I used to be! However, he talked me through it and was really helpful. I came away armed with knowledge I did not previously have. He further asked to see a copy of the lease to which I received an in depth reply today. Fantastic service. I received several reminders (almost to the point of feeling hounded) before my allotted time which gave the impression that LEASE sets great store by promptness. Yet I had to wait almost the full 15 minutes- being the maximum time allowed for these appointments- to be answered as it became apparent that I certainly was not first in the queue!Craig who said he was a solicitor, was friendly and easy to understand, but was unable to help me- saying that I would need a solicitor! Ermmm......I would advise any leaseholder who is led to believe that this is a great service supplied by the government to help those of us beholden to large landlords etc to take this claim with a huge pinch of salt. In fact I suspect that since LEASE" is part of the Department for Levelling up- now that it is clear there is no real appetite for this -the service is likely to be wound up/ dumbed down further. Sorry I can't give a more favourable review."

I felt looked after as if I paid for a solicitor! Big thanks to Moonisah (might got the name wrong). Probably got the same out of 15 min appointment as I would get from a paid advise (i guess it would be more comprahensive but I believe results would be the same). The most annoying thing was the state of leasholders law in the UK !! Definietly nothing wrong about the service!

The website is very user friendly - especially for people without too much computer knowledge. Ms Orimoyole was patient and took the time to explain. She also sent extremely helpful links and I know if the requests etc I have made to the Freeholder are not adhered to I can go back to Leasehold Advistory for further information and guidance.
