The Seagate
We stopped off for lunch on the way to our holiday home on Friday 16th September. The burger and fish and chips were amazing. The pub is lovely and dog friendly and new landlords gave everyone a great welcome. We came down last year and really enjoyed the pub and glad we came back again this time on the way to our holiday! Good luck and we will be back again

Great location with views across the river. Staff were very friendly in this bright, cheerful and spotlessly clean pub.The food was plentiful and reasonably priced.Seating inside and out.

The Seagate
We were staying in Appledore for two nights, and we ate here on the first night. We loved it so much we came back on the 2nd night too.The atmosphere in there is lovely, really chilled vibe. Warm, cozy and lots of dogs and their owners too, which was great as we had a dog with us too. Makes for a very enjoyable night. The food was divine on both nights there is lots on the menu and they are happy to amend/add certain things as you wish. Drinks were equally nice, there is ample of choice of all drinks, alcoholic or non alcoholic. Price wise, I would say it was fairly priced. The food portions extremely generous.Well worth a visit, would recommend booking though as it was busy both nights (and it's not high season)Staff were FAB. Very attentive, friendly and you could see that they were very busy, but they made sure everyone had what they needed and went about their jobs.Great pub. Will deffo visit again when we are in the area.

Great place to sit and relax for a bit. We had coffee and cake there, relaxed with a few drinks in the afternoon and had an evening meal and each experience was excellent.Staff were really friendly and helpful.The food was very good, the only criticism would be that one of our party was a coeliac and when asked if they had a gluten free menu, they didn't, just a folder with all the allergies in that took ages to trawl through.It certainly wouldn't deter us from returning but it would be nice if they were more prepared for people with allergies/intolerance.

We had a small retirement party for 20 guests. It was one of the best nights I have had in a long time. The food was out of this world. Everyone commented on the high standard of the food and all dietary requirements were catered for. Must admit the mussels and the squid was fantastic. We ate way too much.As it was a private function we had the outside area at the back which was cosy and intimate. A perfect setting. In regards to the staff, I have never met staff so attentive and considerate. Michelle constantly kept drinks topped up and made sure the whole night ran smoothly. She was amazing. I would like to thanks the chefs for the fabulous food and of course Tony who bent over backwards for us.The cost of the event was extremely reasonable and great value for money.Thank you so much. You are by far one of the best places to eat and drink in North Devon.

Lovely Sunday evening meal - roast beef and the fish n chips were both perfect. Followed by the regular quiz which is a nice way to finish the weekend. Staff are friendly, online booking is good and good selection of gin and real ales.

Fabulous break, The Seagate was very busy when we arrived however we were looked after very well. We were staying in the annex, near the main hotel which suited us perfectly, it felt private and spacious. It was very well equipped and daily housekeeping visits ensured it stayed that way. Only issue was the heat as there was no air conditioning, however we didn't expect to need it for the 1st week of September. Would definitely go back.
