Pleasant find, recently refurbished to a high standard, the pub has some interesting history to it. Lovely little courtyard area ideal for summer day's & nights. Good menu of pub grub" classics

A very cosy pub and a great place to stop when visiting York. Delicious food. Definitely recommend the British Steak & Nicholson's Pale Ale Pie. Hope to come back soon.

The Old White Swan
Booked the restaurant for a family meal to celebrate my daughter running the York Marathon, pub has a great position in the centre of York, once we got to the Old White Swan we were warmly greeted and shown to our table, very comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Staff were very attentive checking everything was ok and if we needed anything throughout the meal. Beers were good, I enjoyed a Old Perculier that was very nice. We had Sunday roast with four having the beef and four the chicken both nicely cooked with decent portion sizes. We had planned on bringing a dog but they're not allowed in the restaurant but are allowed in the bar and outside seating areas but these are walk in only with no booking so didn't want to risk not getting a table so the dog had to stay at home. Really had a nice time and would recommend The Old White Swan if you're passing.

Never disappointed with this pub .Food great, lovely friendly staff , immaculate men toilets, worth a mention, wife said the ladies toilets were very good.The atmosphere was pleasant and the whole building, courtyard and beer garden are worth looking at.

The Old White Swan
We had the Steak and Ale pie, and the Chicken Truffle pie. Both were enjoyed.Atmosphere was nice, a slightly more upscale feeling pub.The food did take quite a long time to arrive, although it was busy, it didn't seem so busy that we should have had to wait for 35 minutes for its arrival. If the pies were being individually made to order, then I can happily accept that, but I do not think that's the case.

Good food, reasonably priced, good atmosphere, however certainly room for improvement...1. Table service would be nice and made clear. Having to battle your way to the bar and wait to order your drinks and food course each time is poor.2. Some attention to the table would be welcome, rather than, here's your wobbly table with no water and a candle that's got 2 minutes left on it.3. No side dishes to order fromI think that it could be so.much better, but sloppy attention to detail means we won't recommend other than for a drink.Employing some professional experienced staff is a cost, but essential, particularly in this case.

Excellent food, we went twice on our trip to York. Really nice atmosphere too.
