Monaco of Kensington

Avoid. They are either trying to get as much money as possible from the local resident or completely incompetent. They tried to get £270 just for simple diagnostic because it will take them 1.5hrs!Took my car to another VW authorised repairer - £75 for diagnostic (flat rate), they identified the problem straight away and got it fixed.

Had a recall on our Golf so chose Monaco, simply on location. Most impressed with the level of service: helpful office staff and a car spotlessly cleaned inside and out which I thought was way above and beyond for what must have been a tiny job. Thank you Monaco.

If only I had read these reviews before taking my VW Passat to VW Monaco in Kensington, West London. Sadly I have left feeling ripped off and rather stupid for my own lack of an investigation into alternative VW repair garages and their costs for the same work. After negotiating a reduction on my bill from £4,200 + to £3,600 I turned up to collect my car and had, had an additional £300 + added to the agreed figure for additional works that they say had not been discounted, despite our verbal agreement. If only I had, had this in writing so there was no question of ambiguity. When I initially discussed the costs of repairing the car I was told that all VW garages charge the same costs so i'm annoyed to read in another review that Alan Day charge considerably less. Interesting to note too that those additional costs were also for things that i was told need to be repaired to get through any forthcoming MOT, again after reading these reviews I am forced to question this too.I would impress on any one reading this that these guys are scamming you!Ive had to give one star to post this review, they don't deserve it.USE VW MONACO IN KENSINGTON AT GREAT COST, BOTH TO YOUR BANK BALANCE AND YOUR FAITH IN THE HONESTY OF OTHERS.

Fantastic service from a very persistent individual who worked incredibly hard to diagnose the problem with my power steering on my SEAT Ibiza. Drives flawlessly now and I can really notice what a change it has made, will certainly be back for any repairs/services in the future.

Underwhelming experience. Called in for an MOT, they recommended doing various additional jobs (as per VW's standard recommendations) and identified 2 critical (high ticket) issues to be solved before passing the MOT which I accepted, but they actually did no carry out the MOT. I only realised afterwards and had to call back and leave the car again. Not particularly quick, not particularly caring or client friendly: for that type of customer care, I'd rather go to cheaper options. I wouldn't recommend it.

Please avoid this garage, I very wrongly presumed that all VW garages had to keep the prices of services carried out and parts the same or at least close, and I always expect to pay a premium in London due to overheads of the establishment. I realise also that during an MOT you can expect to pay a certain amount of money, I don't have a problem with this. However if I had gone to Alan Day VW on Finchley road my bill would have been half what I have paid today. only a few miles away. When asked why they couldn't price match they said 'we are only a small business and not very busy' I'm not sure this is a valid reason to hike up the prices and overcharge customers. I feel completely scammed, if I hadn't had my Dad double check what they were asking for (I'm 30 just not very car savvy) I would have paid £750 for a cam belt, rather than £450 at Alan Day VW on Finchley road.Please don't make my mistake, shop around, go to a garage that actually values you as a customer rather than trying to get every penny out of you that they can.its not worth the one star I've given it.

I have been to Monaco VW a few times as I live very close by. They consistently recommend unnecessary work and so services are always extremely expensive. Their service is also consistently poor, with the car being ready later than promised on the last two occasions that I have visited. Also,on one occasion, the car was returned with a fault that it do not have when I dropped it have. I then had to pay to have it fixed.Even though I live close by, I will in future travel further for MOTs and services. I recommend Smith & Hunter on Edge Street, off Kensington Church Street. In fact, Monaco VW do not do MOTs themselves, but send the car to Smith & Hunter for MOTs. This may be why they recommend unnecessary investigations and work, as they do not make money from the MOT.

Been with them a while, because they are within easy walking distance. Have had the odd uncertainty, so not previously reviewed. Bit pricey, of course, but to be expected as costs are high round here.This is the first time I've had them collect; however, the car has been standing and the battery is flat. Apparently they do not provide offsite starting so I have to use the AA, which seems like the customer service equivalent of sending your apprentice to stores to fetch a long weight"."

Good communication and always send me a reminder for the MOT. Prices are on the high side but work is done well and very quickly. Always wrap up the work inside a day whenever I have needed it.I always keep a £1 coin in the ashtray for the supermarket trolley and this was taken... so points off for that... It's not about the coin of course it's about the trust !
