Steamer Trading Cookshop

Lovely shop with friendly staff. What a pity it is closing down, however, I did manage to pick up some bargains in their closing down sale.

Loads of choice, makes a nice change to the department stores

fantastic shop. great stock. a trip to Chester would not be complete without a stop at Steamer.

Decent range of cookware at competitive prices although it does feel like the range of items available has taken a hit since it was changed ownership to a pro cook store which is a shame. Hopefully the range of items available will grow once the store has reestablished itself as there is a while other floor that could be utilised.

Excellent shop spread over three floors.Large and varied selection of goods (better than Lakelands). Assistants were very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend even if only browsing.

Situated in central Chester on Upper Bridge street. Double storey professional cook shop with a vast array of stock, sufficient to satisfy the needs of the very keenest cook, chef, amateur or professional. Fantastic selection of knives and very knowledgeable staff who can answer the trickiest of questions. Not only are they helpful but also very friendly .

I bought a set of knives from this store only 2 months ago for my food business and the largest of the knives snapped from it's handle today. I took it back to the shop and the shop assistant gave me 2 options: Refund £3 for the value of the largest knife of the set or Buy a new knife with a pitiful discount of 12% (a discount that already existed in the store). Due to unavailability, they didn't offer to swap the whole set of knives for a brand new set or offer a bigger discount for the new knife, this would have been the right thing to do. Overall the customer service was poor and I ended up having to buy a new knife for over £40. They also made me return to my shop to collect the rest of the knives set which they couldn't even replace. I would like to point out that the staff were polite but that the procedures they have in place regarding returns are not ideal. The main reason I went to this store was to support the local businesses of this area but I will not be returning due to my unsatisfactory experience.
