…Played a round of golf here on 10th August 2024, in glorious sunshine, after not having played it for a number of years …& it’s just as special as ever !!!

Flat-out one of the finest golf courses on the planet. After playing it the first time yesterday, it's obvious why RBGC hosts The Open Championship so frequently. In line with other comments, what impressed me as much as the the golfing experience was the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff at Royal Birkdale. As many golfers know, this isn't always the case at world-class golf clubs. Fantastic all around.

What an excellent golfing experience, playing together with history

Iconic course, fantastic clubhouse, loads of history. A bucket list must!

Fabulous venue, staff, food and management. I no longer play golf but the course is, of course, sensational.Just been back for a funeral and a wedding within 3 days of each other. To be able to host over 100 people seamlessly from lunchtime until midnight is a skill and boy are these guys skilled. The staff (lots of them which is a rarity in these days of venues cost cutting) were, without exception, fabulous and friendly. The food was incredibly good, beautifully cooked and perfectly seasoned and the timing of the day was sensational, literally to the minute.If the staff read these reviews “Thankyou all - you made the funeral bearable and the wedding one of the best I’ve ever been to - and at my age that’s a lot of weddings.”Lovely!John.

Outstanding golf course, a MUST visit and one of best links course in UK

It was one of the best golfing experiences. Facilities, course clubhouse, and staff were amazing. If I have the opportunity to play there in the future, I would definitely take the opportunity too.

I was very fortunate to have played with a member, as the full green fee, as becoming a course on The Open rota, is a big stretch for me.The pre-game practice facilities are very good. The course was in excellent condition, with the greens fast and true. The rough, however, was swallowing everything thrown at it. A little frustrating for the near misses and does slow things down a bit. Bring your fairway finder or plenty of balls!I am a big fan of Hillside GC next door, especially since the tweeking to the front nine, so I was slightly concerned I may be disappointed with Birkdale as expectations of such an iconic course are naturally very high. I was not disappointed at all.The service and food in the clubhouse were excellent, too.
