About the Business

Fortune Of War | Having opened its doors way back in 1882, the Fortune of War is far and away the oldest seafront watering hole, and hence the only pub amongst numerous clubs and bars. It is also the only venue in the whole of Brighton to be shaped like an upside down boat. The main attraction, however, has to be the extremely large beer garden, otherwise known as Brighton beach, offering unparalleled views.

I love this bar, my daughter has lived in Brighton for a number of years, this is a super friendly place with great music. More importantly as a person who generally only drinks coffee, l love to sit and people watch whilst waiting for my daughter. In fact, I travel down from London early so I can spend a couple of hours there chillin' on my own.My daughter and her partner loves it too, so sometimes we are there drinking coffee ,beers and occasionally a pizza until it's time to get my train home. All l can say is, keep doing what you are already doing so well!!

Just called in for a quick drink while walking the dog. The staff were really friendly and a lovely relaxed atmosphere with chilled music at a good level. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

One of my very most favourite places in Brighton to go for a drink - and that's saying something because I'm the biggest Brighton fan in the world.Never eaten there so can't say what the food is like.Service is normal, you just order at the bar and have a standard experience.Absolutely love this place for the caves inside - it's so unusual and spacious and obviously it's right in the beach too so you can pop out and party as and when you please.

This pub has always been in Brighton since I arrived many years ago. It has kept its charm all this time but has moved with the times as well. There is a lovely atmosphere and decent beers. There is no nicer bar on the seafront.

Great bar by the sea. The service was friendly, nice barman who chatted away as he served. We sat outside, a moment of sunshine in October, but the inside of the bar is great.

The pub location is perfect! Just on the beach, that’s the only good thing about it. But the price for 2 pints of Mango Ale cost £13.50. I think personally that’s pricey!
