What a place amazing, the performance we watched was Shakespeare's As You Like It, a brilliant show, the audience sit under cover the stage is open to the elements, the acting was brilliant for amateurs/semi professional and the actual park was great, sit and have a picnic before performance or use the bistro for a light meal before you see you play, each summer they perform a different season of plays. We loved it

A brilliant stage version of The Lady in the Van. The roles of The Lady and Alan Bennett and his alter ego were played so very well. Startling level of fitness exhibited by female role making we oldies feel below par.A full open theatre. Still a challenge flights of steps, poor lighting and restricted and dire tions as one gets closer to the venue.

We buy tickets for this theatre at least one time each year. The performances are always professional. All seats have a good view and the theatre seated area is under cover. The actors however have to perform dry or wet haha. We arrive early with a picnic and chairs, pop the fiz and make it a family event. There is a bar as well for the interval and dedicated parking. This year we saw Lady in the Van, but could happily have seen one of their Shakespeare productions.

Saw As You Like It, on a very rainy day. The cast were fantastic, real troopers, & carried on regardless of the weather. The grounds are lovely, would have been great if we could all have had our picnics, however not anything anyone can do other than enjoy the show.

I've seen many plays here now and I can honestly say, I've never seen one I haven't enjoyed thoroughly. Such a high standard of acting and high production value. This Company is a true asset of the local area!

Fantastic plays acted by excellent actors..a great night out in beautiful surroundings. Large carpark. If the weather is lovely come early and bring a picnic! You can order a picnic in advance but wasn't what we wanted. The restaurant was busy and has great reviews

We had a wonderful time watching The Lady In the Van after having v enjoyed a picnic in the beautiful grounds. The staff were attentive, and proved great customer service. The play was executed brilliantly. I can't believe I have waited so long to get along to a show!

Went to see The Lady In The Van - amazing performance, enjoyed it very much thank you. How lucky we are to have this unique theatre just down the road! If you haven’t been book your tickets now and have a picnic in the beautiful grounds of Tolethorpe (unless it rains of course…..)

Had a wonderful evening out watching As You Like It. I haven't been here for almost 30 years, and it's just as I remember it. It's a wonderful atmosphere sitting outside watching Shakespeare. The seats are remarkably comfortable. I would definitely recommend taking a blanket to keep warm later in the evening. But this is a perfect place to come for a picnic and a performance!

Real good production of Lady in the van. Mostly friendly helpful staff. No vegan options and 3 quid for a vending machine style cup of coffee is rather expensive lose 1 star for both those observations. Worth a visit.
