Great food (I had the nut wellington roast) and lovely atmosphere but had to keep our coats on throughout our meal as we were sat on a table by the back door and every time someone came or went, it was really cold.

Food was good, but ordering at the bar then had to reorder everything after no stock available 10 mins later.Lady who served us said she couldn't sell us a pint of lemonade so we ordered 2 glasses instead...Food actually very nice, really enjoyed everything out the kitchen.Really didn't like the idea of ordering at the bar if we're spending £50 per head...

Popped in for a quick drink as I heard it was under new management! Very glad I did. Surprised to see lots of people I know now going back there. Great vibe, superb atmosphere. Was asked to come back for band night on Saturday, so I did with a few of my friends......what a night. It was absolutely on fire with so many people singing and dancing, like the good old pub days. New Manager, Heidi, obviously has a plan and so far is nailing it. Back there tomorrow for lunch with the family.

This place is due to reopen (for the umpteenth time) this Friday. Let’s hope it is better than the last offering. My 2 stars reflect the previous management whose business model was to take a beautiful medieval pub in a historic and affluent village and trash it. The menu had been stripped back to very basic and the character and ambience almost entirely lost. Fingers crossed for a significant improvement from the new management team. I’ll review again when it opens.

Great pub. Friendly and welcoming. Awesome pint of Guinness along with numerous ales and a huge range of wines and spirits. Smashing food too. Winner!
