Nice food, but £3.95 for a cheap whipped sausage!?I know it's August and the tourists trade is there for the taking and why not! It gets most local businesses through the winter months.Take a look at the images and make your own mind up.

Having dined in Hanbury's in years gone and enjoyed it very much, I decided to try the delivery service. The fish was fine but the chips were some of the worse I've had anywhere. What is Hanbury's doing allowing the quality to have dropped so much - see photo. For £32 For 1 large,1 med' Cod and large chips I was very disappointed to say the least. Never again.

Our favourite chip shop. Nuff said...Now open again for takeaway and restaurant service in June 2021, the food here is consistently excellent, the service is very good and friendly, has its own branded ale to wash down your fish and chips. Please use the car park along the road to park as to not disturb the residents adjacent to the takeaway.

It seemed that most people sitting on the benches overlooking the scenery at Babbacombe were all eating fish n chips from Hanbury. We thought we would give it a try and we could see why they were so popular. Served in an easy to share box, with forks, they really were the tastiest fish and chips you could want. A great thing to eat whilst enjoying the fantastic views over the bay.

I believe I've already done a review as this is our go to and by far the best chippy around.Until a month ago, the restaurant had been closed since the 1st lockdown.We visited today & the quality of the food & service was top rate as ever.What some might not realise is that they change the oil in their friers twice daily so the fried fish and chips always taste clean" & crisp.Their mushy peas are the best and all items even down to the curry sauce & pickled eggs are great quality.**July 2022 update** Very unfortunately the restaurant is now permanently closed.The take-away is still as great & popular as ever however."

Hanbury's is a Torquay institution, and never disappoints. Traditional Cod and Chips, perfectly prepared and presented, with delightful mushy-peas on the side. Taken away to be eaten in the best possible location on Babbacombe Downs overlooking the wild waves.As near to perfection as any meal can be.

Smallest portion of fish and chips I’ve ever had especially considering I paid £17 for fish, chips and a curry sauce. The “large” chips (£5) were tasty but definitely a small portion. The fish was dry and had too much batter and not enough meaty cod (£11.50). The curry sauce was nice though.

I cannot believe how much fish and chips costs these days, but if you're going to fork out you may as well get the best. Me and my wife shared a large haddock and large chips, which was around £17. A regular chips would have been fine. Ate on a bench up the road. Beautiful. Would go back. Be warned - big queues, but actually food was ready in about 15 mins which is fine.

Finally, a fish and chip shop selling decent portions of fish (unlike the large fish finger that a F&C sells in town, near the clock...)The batter was excellent as were the chips - both of us opting for the haddock which was freshly good and a decent size - I really do recommend this place. You can go online and arrange a pick up, they will also deliver for a few.Great location, it's so nice picking up and go across sit atop the cliff top looking out to sea.We'll definitely head back there.

The restaurant was closed but the take away was open. They serve one of the finest fish and chips in Devon. Must try.
