Really think maxwell should take a good look at there staff and the unpleasant food they are dishing out. I order my food and drinks at a quiet time. Which I was told I couldn't have because they couldn't leave pesto off. Can you tell me why? My daughter has a nut and egg allergy. I ended up ordering something else. A burger which wasn't very nice, no flavour. The chips was cheaper and had a funny taste to them, like something else has been cooked in the oil. You could tell I wasn't the only person to be disappointed by the food. So much uneaten food on most tables. While the staff just stood around chatting. I would avoid wasting your time and money on a place that doesn't care about quality and customer service. You really have lost your way.

Fabulous vegan menu, the food was delicious had vegan nachos, sweet potato & chick'n curry and onion bhajia baguette, mango chutney and mayo with skinny fries. Would definitely revisit. Service from Phil at front of house was excellent too.

I've been coming here for years and I usually really like it. However, I got the stack of 3 American Style" pancakes (£6.70) and was left incredibly disappointed. It comes with one topping and any additional toppings are £1 extra. I originally asked for the pancakes with blueberries and the woman who served us responded "just blueberries?" So I got maple syrup as well. I should've known by her reaction that the pancakes would be plain but for the price I'd expected better

I atteneded a Christmas Party night. The food was amazing, the staff were attentive and helpful, the music and singer were brilliant, the atmosphere was fantastic. best Christmas party weve been too in a while!! 5 stars ... thankyou

Maxwells Cafe Wine Bar
We went to Clitheroe for the day and were pleased to find out it had a castle on a big hill, great views but many steps which brewed up an appetite. Apparently Maxwells Cafe Wine Bar is the place to be and be seen in this town, so we went there. The service was very friendly and fast. They weren't pushy or impatient, they let us order in our own time.The food was great. I went for an halloumi burger which came topped with probably the best onion rings I've ever had. They were crisped to perfection. The burger and fries were also very tasty and I gobbled down the lot. My wife enjoyed what she had and so did the kids.If I ever come back to Clitheroe, I'll make sure I stop by again. Full marks for everything!

Great place to eat and drink. Menu is varied and caters for all tastes at reasonable prices. Food is well cooked and consistently good. Staff are always helpful and friendly and servce is good. Highly recommended

Absolutely love coming here, the burgers and all the food I've had here are amazing. Always really friendly customer service, and a generally lovely place at the heart of Clitheroe to come to eat. The cocktails are also great, and there is an outdoor, rooftop bar, which me and my boyfriend love especially during the summer months. Would recommend ! Can't wait to visit again! Best place to eat in Clitheroe!!!

Popped in yesterday for a bite to eat and a drink. I ordered the cheeseburger fries, and my friends ordered the salt & pepper fries. With onion rings and a cheesey flat bread as extra. The food was absolutely amazing. Good portion size, and very well presented. The beer was good, too. Will definitely be back when I'm in Clitheroe, and I would highly recommend it to anyone else.

Nice to see a vegan menu with a lot of options. The food was what you expect for a cafe. Enjoyable and ate the lot. The only thing I didn’t like was the slate it was served on. It’s a bit 2010! And all in all just awkward to navigate with the salad falling off and touching the table. The salad was nice but not cheap for what it was. The service was friendly but slow at parts. The man who served us on 25/4/23 at 3:30pm (dark hair, slim) was the star of the show and gained a star or two. He clocked out at 4pm and we felt forgotten about. It would have been miserable without him. What a legend! We will be back, but not in a rush.
