Sit Happens Dog Training Ltd

Today was our last training session, a day we never thought would arrive. We now have a dog that has been transformed thanks to the great advice from Matt and consistent hard work practicing. With his many years of dog training, he is very knowledgeable and very good at helping you learn the tools to help improve your life with your four-legged friend, including getting the basics embedded. You would think walking your dog near traffic would be a normal everyday event however, our dog Dolly was petrified of traffic and reacted unpredictably, trying to escape to any place of safety. She would pull like a sled dog in any direction, shake uncontrollably and hyper-ventilate, making walks unpleasant and traumatic.Sit happens training methods differ to the other three trainers we tried, (just wish we'd found them sooner!!).We already understood the concept of rewarding good behaviour, but had not been instructed in any aspects of correcting unacceptable and unwanted behaviour. This, we feel was the key to our success.After each session we went away with clear advice and instruction before the next session.Now there is no next session and it's job done.Thank you and good luck.Shaun, Kath and Dolly.

We wish that we had found Sit Happens when we adopted Maverick in May 2019. Fortunately, we found Matt and the team and have been working with them since March 2022. Maverick is one of a kind. He had many issues, all stemming from fear which he then displayed in reactivity to people and dogs, amongst many other unacceptable behaviours. When we met Matt, I was unable to walk to Maverick because of his behaviour and my lack of confidence, so this fell to my husband. The road has been long and we are still not where we want to be, but the improvement in Maverick has been amazing. My confidence has increased when handling him and I feel like I can deal with any situation. All it took was finding the right trainer, someone who wasn’t scared of a difficult German Shepherd, practice and repetition and finding the right tools to enable us to get control of Maverick and for him to realise that we can handle the situations. He does not need to take control and deal with everything. My husband and I now walk Maverick using different tools as Maverick listens more to my husband than he does to me. We have had intense sessions, one to one’s, joined the reactivity masterclass and Maverick was also able to take advantage of the residential training that was previously offered. This has all built up to us being able to attend the Summer BBQ event with 19 other dogs and their handlers and to say that Maverick’s behaviour made us proud is an understatement. That is something that, previously, I would not have thought possibly and I certainly would not have had the confidence to attend. I am now so confident in handling Maverick that I am able to walk him around our local County Park and deal with people, dogs and cyclists with ease. Sit Happens has changed ours and Maverick’s life for the better and I know that Matt and the team are at the end of the phone if we require any further guidance or need a top-up session. I am forever grateful to Sit Happens and I would recommend them to everyone who is struggling with their dog or feels that they need a bit of guidance.

These guys are AMAZING! My Shar Pei is fear reactive, especially to dogs and has a very unsure temperament. We had used previous trainers in the past but made no real progress. Matt and his team have worked with us for 3 whole days and let me tell you I could cry with joy at the change in him!! I never thought we could achieve what we have as I thought it was impossible. Matt has proven wrong our many doubts and trained us as owners how to be the best leader for our dog.Matt and Emily were the best hosts for our train and stay, constant laughs and support! My dog and I did a train and stay with Matt at our home. The main concerns were pulling on the lead (causing me back trouble), barking at the door, and people/dog reactivity. Within the first hour or so, I could answer the door without the cacophony of barking! Bliss. And the loose lead walking came quickly after that. Matt's instruction is easy to follow and it's absolutely changed the way I interact with my boy. Previously I would get really frustrated and it showed. Now, I know to take a breath, and start again. The loose lead walking has probably fallen off a little (I can absolutely hear Matt's voice when I let him get too far in front!) but it's something we work on every day and even with going a little backwards, it's still miles ahead of previously being pulled up the street. Despite a couple of unfortunate incidents with off lead dogs at the park, I think his reactivity is getting better too. I've seen him actively make the choice to focus on me and not the dog and to have him get to that point a month after working with Matt (when we'd been going to other training for months) is just amazing. Thank you Matt, for teaching me and helping my relationship with my boy.

Our big lad Reg, who we rescued earlier this year, is wonderful but after a very tough start in life, is now basically a puppy in a 2-year old dog suit and has a range of issues. We have used Sit Happens before and had no hesitation in signing up for the intensive Boot Camp. Matt has a brilliant way about him. Sometimes he is soft as butter and then sometimes, when it’s needed, he turns into a monster. Poor old Reg doesn’t know what has hit him, bless him. But it is obvious that whilst the ‘Bad Cop’ side of Matt really shocks Reg, it is also obvious that Reg has a real hero worship thing going on.Matt is simply superb and more importantly, we have learned more than Reg and have been able to implement Matt’s clear, simple, but incredibly successful techniques. Can’t wait to see the final version of our big lad, but the change that Matt has enabled Reg to make so far has been incredible.We can’t rate Sit Happens highly enough. Fast, simple and effective. We started with Sit Happens because our 2 big dogs were reactive and pulled on the lead walking wasn't a joy at all. We had 1 on 1 sessions and also group session progressing to pack walks. I can't believe the difference now in both of our dogs, today we went to a carnival full of noise, people and dogs, both behaved impeccably. This is something we couldn't have even contemplated before, both dogs were relaxed and an absolute joy. We had a session with Ricky working on our dogs, reactivity to the doorbell and dog reactivity. Ricky was Fantatsic, was great with both us and Luna, and he gave us the tools to help improve her behaviour and we have already noticed an improvement. We’ve booked in for another session and couldn’t recommend Ricky and the sit happens team enough.

This team changes lives. I did a 3 day train and stay with my 3 year old reactive French Bulldog. The knowledge and experience Matt has is incredible and Emily is fantastic! They are an amazing team. After almost giving up due to past trainers and getting nowhere I am so glad I did it. I cannot recommend enough. The changes already after 3 days is hard to believe and has given me confidence to tackle the world with my dog. Thank you!
