Jonathan Curtis Drum Lessons

Jonathan is an amazing drum instructor. My son has additional needs and he is always patient and tries out new ways of learning for him. The set up is professional and instructions and directions are challenging but kept clear to ensure the drummer continues to learn and be engaged.

Jonathan is a brilliant teacher. My daughter only started learning the drums a few months ago and she's really enjoying it. Jonathan really knows how to get the best from her whilst making the lessons fun and varied.

Jonathan is not only very knowledgeable about his subject he is also an engaging and enthusiastic teacher. Our son really enjoys their lessons together.

Jonathan has been teaching me for four years and I have made steady progress across a number of drumming styles, from rock, drum & bass, jazz, latin, funk, fusion, linear, and, of course, the rudiments.Every lesson is tailored and amended to my progress and to reflect the evolution of my musical interests. Time spent on elevating my drumming speed whilst maintaining accuracy has been especially valuable, and my drumming horizons are expanding exponentially as we've now entered the world of polyrhythms and broken time. I can wholeheartedly recommend Jonathan to anybody wishing to start drumming, or to the intermediate/advanced drummer who wants to further develop their skills.

Had my first lesson after receiving a voucher. My partner has a drum kit, so decided to give it a go as a one off. I really enjoyed myself! Having never played the drums before, I was very nervous (especially as I am uncoordinated). But Jonathan made me feel so at ease and was very encouraging. I had lessons as a child for other instruments, but going back to the very very basics with a new instrument as an adult seemed much more daunting. I will certainly be taking skills away form my lesson today to practice, and booking further lessons. I will finally use the home drum kit it seems! I would 100% recommend Jonathan to anyone wanting to learn the drums, excellent teaching style, very dedicated!!

Our daughter has recently started having drum lessons with Jonathan and is really enjoying it. He is really good at keeping her focussed and explaining everything in an easy way. She loves going and I'm sure will continue to do so as she learns more and gets better with such a great teacher.

Jonathan has been teaching our 9 year old son for a few months now & I can highly recommend him as a teacher & mentor for anyone who would like to learn drumming. He provides calm, assured & approachable direction that has really engaged our son, who has progressed quickly with his technique & understanding of musical compositions. It really is a joy to see how effortlessly Jonathan has helped him develop in such a short time.

Recently bought a drum kit after getting back into it after a long break and wanted to try having lessons again too to improve my technique and creativity round the kit. Jonathan's passion for the instrument is second to none and his teaching style is fantastic: reassuring and calm, and logical as well - building up each exercise and applying it to drumming grooves and fills. In just thirty minutes I felt I had developed my skills and had plenty of new exercises to go home and work on too. Definitely recommend and can't wait to get some more lessons booked!

Jonathan has been teaching my 6 year old son for 3 months now and he has made amazing progress. I can't recommend Jonathan enough, a great teacher with the patience of a saint!
