Great garden centre for trees and shrubs. They specialise in bulk orders for large developments but are equally happy to accommodate garden renovations or just a single shrub. They also supply garden centres across the country and have a web shop. Amazing selections of trees, many I've not seen before. A choice of height, from small saplings through to semi mature specimens. Well worth a visit.

It was a lovely chrismas night, Father Christmas was there. Lots of stalls, lights, plants, a log fire, and best of all free mulled wine and mincepies.

Frank Matthews offers a proper good old fashioned service! Very friendly and knowledgable, both on which trees and rootstocks to buy and how to care for them. I bought an apple, a pear and a plum last year - all self fertile 2 year old barerooted trees. I ordered mine over the phone as I'm not great online. They duly arrived in December as promised in robust packaging, and they survived nearly 3 weeks in this - tucked into my garden gin hut - as it had snowed and the ground was frozen solid - it was even too cold to put them in pots. The trees were eventually put in pots when the weather improved and they survived everything the British weather could throw at them. I even had a crop of 15 beautiful, delicious Red Falstaff apples - no pears or plums this year - but I wasn't expecting any fruit on such young trees! They are now planted in the ground -10 months after they arrived - and they seem to be very happy! I would definitely use Frank Matthews again and have already recommended them to friends.

On a referral given to me, I thought I would try out there tree cutting service. Obviously, being a reputable company, I thought I would have no issues. This was not the case. I paid £500 for two days work, one man only. The gentle in question, I must say worked hard and no reflexion on him at all. But he arrived, with ONLY with mini saw on long pole and a pair of secateurs which were his own. As all equipment had been taken out that morning I was told. So with no ladders, no wheelbarrow, no chainsaw a job that could have been easily done, didn't get finished and I was left with huge amounts of branches left all over my orchard. To make matters easier, I ended up helping second day which wasn't ideal. Thought most of the larger trees had been put in piles. The shredder which was used the second day could not cope with the huge amount of smaller branches and wasn't appropriate for such a big job. Very disappointed and when I actually send my concerns to HQ, all I received was thanks for your comments and about paying in full. I could have gone elsewhere, got more done and for paid far less and hopefully a company with appropriate tools for a professional job done.
