Merlin Wharf is a kool pet friendly place to live - located right in the city limits with easy access to transportation, many restaurants and a shopping mall. MW common area, with outdoor gym (there also an indoor) and picnic tables, sits alongside the River Soar, where swans, rowers, and canal boats are a frequent sight. The staff are Amazing - friendly and accommodating, and the lobby lounge is cozy and comfortable

I highly recommend renting at MW under new management. Flats are in high standard, with a great location close to all city centre amenities. Whole staff at MW is very helpful and always there to respond whenever needed. Maintenance is quick and can deal with any issues at your flat. Reception staff is always happy to assist with anything, thanks to Shannon and rest of the amazing crew for making this place look amazing. After they joined MW, reception is looking much cleaner, it’s nicely decorated to every theme, whether it was World Cup, Halloween or Xmas. They’ve organised events to bring the community together. I think it was very wise of higher management to bring the right people here. Overall, I recommend renting at MW

I have called to try and book a viewing of this place and I can easily say this has been the worst costumer service I have received.Firstly, I called and the phone was picked by Tom which immediately had a rude tone but I am not someone to judge how someone’s day might be going so I just decided to go on and asked if it was possible to know more about the flats (I know two undergraduate students that live there). He immediately asked me if I was a student and I said yes, later asked if I was an undergraduate student and I said yes so he said “we don’t rent to undergraduates” and turned off the phone while I tried to ask something else. This was already annoying enough but I decided to call again as I wanted to ask if my boyfriend who is not an undergraduate student could rent it instead as we wanted to move in together. When he picked the call again, he just kept saying that he doesn’t rent to undergraduate students until I had to ask him to please let me speak. As soon as he finally lets me ask the question, he started asking me what does my boyfriend work at and what is his annual income. After, told me to tell my boyfriend to call. How is it possible that I had to insist so much to ask a simple question just because he felt extremely entitled to speak to me anyhow just because I am an undergraduate student. I have never had this type of costumer service and I believe that he wouldn’t have spoken to me this way if this was a face to face costumer service.I would also like to add the fact that when I asked him if there is someone above him who I could speak to he answered just “no”. So I asked if he owns the place or has the highest management role and he said no again. Again, proceeded to tell me I can’t speak with anyone else. What type of service is this? As a student (who also works 20 hours per week on costumer service) I can assure that this was embarrassing.

I've been living in MW for a year. The staff, particularly Melkel from building management, has been excellent when it comes to any problems with our apartments. There have been a few minor issues, like a malfunctioning lift, but there's an alternative lift in another block. However, the facilities, especially the gym, need upgrades considering the rent price. Alaina, who manages the Property Management, has been dedicated and efficient in handling documents to ensure residents are in good standing.MW is conveniently located—5 minutes to the city center, 10-15 minutes to Tesco Super Store, and within 30 minutes' walking distance to Aldi & Lidl.Improvements need to be made in ensuring previous tenants settle their outstanding bills, such as electricity, water, and council tax. I faced issues with the electric supply company due to the previous tenant's unresolved billing, which resulted in debt collectors contacting me to resolve the issue.

Been living here for the past 7 months now and overall it’s a really great place. The on site staff are always kind, friendly and helpful with any situation. It is well situated just on the corner of the city centre so it has great access everywhere. Temperature control is quiet good and normally I don’t have the need to turn on the heating. Some cons and I why I don’t give 5 stars is because the Wi-Fi is sufficient but you could always get an external source. Also insurance her can be a bit more expensive for some reason. Picky one but because the windows are full height the blinds are not enough to cover the light in the morning.

Moved in 2 months ago. Great location (5 minutes walking to city centre). Flats and furniture are in very good condition. Building maintained very well. Staff at reception are very very friendly. Certainly a good choice for expats.Downsides:Lack of black curtains makes it very difficult to sleep when there is sunlight.Furnished flats have only main furniture. You have to buy everything for kitchen (glass, fork, pan, etc) and bedding (duvet, pillow, sheets)

Warning - This place will waste your time and energy more than ever!!!!!Never go for viewing this place trust me their administration is worst!!Booked my viewing and went for viewing during my work hours to find out I can't do viewing literally jokes, showed me one apartment which i really liked wanted to move filled application and gave all the details and one week later just got know they gave to someone else Wow, what a waste of time!!and then gave me another list of apartments than i choose another one and after couple of days again get to know that they aren't letting it either. Disgusted to core. 0 trading ethics, and business standards. Worst customer service!!!

Edit: Knocked off 2 stars due to ongoing issues with noisy neighbours (more and more students having late night parties) and smokers (weed) on site; the smell actually permeates into your apartment, which is fun. Security and staff unable to do anything so just have to put up with it.Moved in at the start of this year and had no issues to begin with until I came to use the washing machine. Unfortunately the developers had damaged it when bringing it in. Thankfully the site manager, Jay, was able to resolve this (even though hindered by the manufacturer's long replacement process!) and couldn't have been more helpful. The Wi-Fi included in the rent isn't the fastest (but it's included in your rent and for most people will be fine) so I've invested in my own agreement with a provider to get 120 Mbps up/down at a pretty typical rate. Just note that this is with the OFNL rather than Virgin/EE/BT - manage your expectations. The apartment is clean, has a great view over the canal and aside from the usual noises you expect to hear from neighbours in an apartment building, it's still actually reasonably quiet when you consider how close to the city centre it is.Is it cheap? No. Is it pretty decent considering its location, a concierge facility for parcel delivery and fobbed security access? I'd say so.

Horrific experience from the very beginning until after we moved out. We eperienced all the issues mentioned in other comments, noise, water, wifi, lift not working, also lost two of my parcels worth 200 GBP. The day we moved out was the one of the happiest days. However, this place gives people problems even after they moved out. In particular, when we moved out the Merlin Whraf claimed in an email that it would notify Leicester City Council about my move for council tax purpose. However it did not do that. After a few months I receive letters from my new place from a debt collecting company who threatened that bailiffs would come to collect council tax for Leicester City Council! In the past I notified the local council about my move but because MW said it would do it, it put us in a very difficult position. We had to spend time talking to the debt collecting company who was very cold and communicating with the council all because MW did not do what it promised to do!!
