Far below average compared to the other bakeries around the Bedfordshire rand Hertfordshire region.Shefford has only one bakery, which is this one, so it doesn’t have any competition and therefore any thoughts of improvement doesn’t seem to exist.Days bakery, an artisan bakery near by beats this bakery in every aspect possible, from their cakes to their bread and their pastries. Gunns bakery is also better by some way, renowned for their donuts and clangers designed by Jamie Oliver.There is a very small selection of hot food, most of which is burned on the underside or microwaved and therefore floppy. This is unacceptable.The cakes are passé compared to the other establishments mentioned. The bread is average, the sandwich selection compared to elsewhere is also below average.Please compare if you don’t believe me.Roger only accepted cash until told by the government that business needed to accept contactless payment during the covid crisis, which I found dubious. Now there is a contactless machine you will find they have connection problems and will have to wait for it to work. This is a common problem, and fixable like the other establishments have done but it won’t be as the owner doesn’t care and hates updating anything.If any other bakery opened up near by then I can only presume that this establishment would go under within the year because it would be unable, or unwilling to compete.They also complained when a food van opened up near by as it took away a large portion of their customer base, who only use it because as mentioned, it’s the only one around this particular town.

Really friendly staff, lovely baked goods and great prices!! Also card payments now accepted

1 Star due to opening times not being available online to then get there at 1:45 on a Saturday afternoon for them to be closed. Which is a complete let down for a bakers to be closed so early on a Saturday & for the Meppershall shop to have the wrong times advertised so was supposed to be open but upon arrival was closed. Total waste of time.

Good Bakery, staff were quite rude once when I am supposed to know the don't accept card payments in this day and age. Honestly
