For Whom the bells toll? Well, here at St Columba's, the 'bells' ring loud and clear to honour and commemorate Jesus Christ as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. A local church with a serving spirit which benefits her members and community in an exemplary manner.During one of my Sutton Park summertime walks, through Banners Gate entry juxtaposed to this church, I decided to step within the confines of its impressive, multi-coloured stained-glass walls. Having church-cum-cult-hopped, and then no more hops, only standstill, well, this church was literally a Lord-send for this weary wanderer of a Christian with Bunyan as her mate.Step in I did, into a most welcoming Family of members where I felt at complete ease, a no-barriers spiritual/social Home. As a 'native Indian' :) my tribal bold-Brown instincts said: This is YOUR church, nestle ye in it. And so I did. Warmly.Great architecture too reflecting God-given creativity in man; even the sun-rays filtering the Sanctuary through a mosaic of stained glass windows resonate with the multifaceted dimensions of God's Triune Persona as Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Like a prism: multi, yet One. Wow!In a nutshell, we are an all sorts B&B: Bright & Beautiful. No racial/cultural/creed/ethnic/persuasion/language divide. None. Jesus & His love rules here. Heavenly angelic choir: out-of-tuners (me) welcome too. Vibrant Vicar, Robust Reader et al make this place doubly attractive. The Bible preaching is contextualized, and made relevant, to our contemporary societal life and sensitivities: realistic and practical. And of course, humorous.Our rotating kitchen team demonstrates the valued norms of Hospitality enviably well. Cakes, biscuits, flapjacks ... Anyone fancy fresh tomatoes? As I said, all sorts.Social events, family celebrations, children-friendly ... St Columba's one-elastic-size snugly fits many!Wondering about the 'bells'? The bells represent His followers aka church leadership and the led; for both the pulpit and the pew, preach and practice - yes, even with all our glaring human flaws and frailties - the true Love of Jesus.So, COME on in Friends, and hop on our B&B bus.
