Couldn't get her to kick over, or hold tick over - which is a nightmare anyway - got fed up and called for help / Pete - the lads came round picked her up and a week later called to say they've cleaned down the carb checked her over and all good - picked her up today and ripped her on the way home - she runs good, sounds good, and all good - great work guys - much appreciated as always - will pop in for a tea soon Cheers Keith

I approached Pete with some questions about servicing my VF1000. Honda wouldn't touch it, believe it or not. He was nothing but polite and pleasant throughout our initial interaction. Some background. My bike was restored by a so called expert in Australia. The cosmetics are superb, but that's where the praise ends. I imported the bike, jumping through all of the legal hoops. One of those hoops was an MOT.How it passed is beyond me, with all of the things I found wrong with it. I'm no expert, so this is where Pete comes in...I booked it in with him for a service, with the brief to go over it with a fine toothed comb having told him the story and my concerns therefrom. He found several faults with it, not least of them being incorrectly assembled brake calipers, with pads covered in paint overspray. That explains why they were so cr*p.This was rectified after a phone call from Pete to tell me what it would cost to fix it. It wasn't cheap, but most of the cost was parts. He then serviced the bike. The usual things, oil, filters, plugs, tappet clearances etc. He also adjusted the carbs. If you know the way Honda shoe horned the engine into that thing, you'll appreciate what a task that is.In total, he had my bike for about two weeks; most of that time was awaiting parts, and a staff shortage courtesy of covid. That's nobody's fault, not even the Romans. It was MOTd at that point. All good.I could concede that Pete's outfit may not be the fastest in town, but he's prepared to use his knowledge and expertise on a 35 year old bike that even the main dealers wouldn't touch due to its obsolescence. He was even happy to offer me some F.O.C guidance on setting up the Amal carb on a 1963 AJS 350. He didn't have to do that. He'll be getting my Honda again when its service is due. Frankly I wouldn't trust anybody else with it.In summary, if you want it done as soon as you arrive and done to a time schedule, go somewhere else and take a chance on quality. If you're not time critical and want it done properly, take it to Pete.

Booked my sons moped in for an mot, 3 days later they still had not done the mot yet and when asked why they stated they were reluctant to do the mot as it will fail miserably , what kind of reason is that ? They are extremely rude and i ended up getting the bike recovered and took somewhere else rather then deal with this company, completely unprofessional with a lazy attitude. STAY CLEAR.......As to your reply my son was late I won't disagree there but on his arrival he was told we don't why it's booked in today anyway as the mot guy isn't there until Saturday, so write what ever response you like but I think all readers can plainly see from your quick response with its passive aggression what kind of character you are . The end of the day you speak down to customers and let's be honest who needs that there are plenty of other garages out there . To everyone else who reads this ask your self do you want to risk being treated with disrespect and messed around or just go somewhere else ??

Pete has managed to keep my bike on the road for the last four years. It finally failed it's m.o.t and was too expensive to repair. When I get a new bike I know who will be looking after it.

I was hundreds of miles from home when I got a puncture on the A1 near Peterborough. I plugged the tyre with a temporary repair & travelled to The Motorcycle Works just as they were opening up in the morning. Pete and his staff were first class, and managed to squeeze me in immediately and fitted two new tyres to my bike. The mechanic (sorry I didn’t get his name) was very thorough and careful with the repair and filled me with confidence in his knowledge and ability. Without their help I would have been stranded a long way from home, waiting for a recovery truck. Thanks very much for first class service. Highly recommended.

Rubbish place to take your bike!!!!They had my brother's bike for 3 weeks, took advantage of his lack of bike knowledge. They took all the parts needed for the bike that my brother had purchased.. they did not put any of it on.. when he got it back it was still leaking so he took it back they charged him more.. and did a dodgy MOT. because after he picked it up he kept it off the road in storage until he sold it recently, now the poor guy that purchased the bike has failed the MOT on the axact things that they were ment to fix!! So £700 for absolutely F-all..IT STILL LEAKED BTW.. I FIXED THAT MYSELF IT WAS THE WARPED THERMOSTAT COVER. IF YOU ACTUALLY LOOKED AT THE BIKE YOU WOULD OF SEEN IT.. CALL YOURSELF A HIGHLY RATED BIKE REPAIR SHOP.. JUST TO ADD IM NOT A BIKE MECHANIC. I JUST ACTUALLY DID SOME WORK ON IT UNLIKE YOU GUYS... RUBBISH WASTE OF MONEY. BRING YOUR BIKE TO ME ID DO A BETTER JOB UNQUALIFIED.No ⭐'s AT ALL
