Last month, I rented a car with Virtuo and collected it at Hotel Ibis’ car park managed by ‘YourParkingSpace’. Virtuo uses car parks across the city for customers to rent their cars. Google it, it’s a very convenient way of renting modern cars for a decent price and you get to enjoy some of the lastest models of Tesla i.e. Model Y or 3, Mercedes GLA or GLB, etc.As soon as I wanted to leave the car park I quickly realised that I was stuck because a car was parked right behind me in a spot that wasn’t even a proper parking spot. Therefore, I went to see the hotel reception to seek their help but unfortunately they weren’t able to help me out because they don’t enforce people to check in when they park. Instead, they will only be able to tell who it is once the driver turns up to pay the parking ticket. Although I can understand where they were coming from and was advised to simply wait until the person shows up, I still found it a preposterous suggestion if you ask me. I was stuck in a car park with a car that I paid for for a number of hours and couldn’t leave because someone else didn’t follow the rules and nothing could be done by the hotel that is responsible for the car park to resolve the issue - makes absolute sense right?!After waiting for 50 minutes, the car that was parked next to me had left, which gave me more space to get out, which leads me to a second issue. The car park is very narrow and it’s challenging to manoeuvre overall. I’m definitely not a claustrophobic person but this was the first time in my life where I was heading that way.Piece of feedback for Hotel Ibis and YourParkingSpace: you really need to up your game with your car park, the entire place looks run down, there’s hardly any space and you need to better govern your own car park especially in a situation where people breach the rules and cause inconvenience to other customers!
