Went yesterday over a tooth extraction, all things considered I got dealt with pretty swiftly. I just wanted to say to the lady that gave me the time of day when the all the other staff were dismissive thank you for your kindness, I know she’ll probably not see this but on a day when the emergency department was heaving you showing me that little bit of compassion resulted in me getting some antibiotics and hopefully being back on the mend. So again thank you! I didn’t get your name but keep being the bright soul you was in the emergency department it makes all the difference!

I fell upstairs, a six inch by two inch strip of skin peeled back up my shin…im on blood thinners so started to worry at the amount of blood coming out…the paramedics came and said can you make your way to the new minor injuries at the royal…..you should be straight in and get seen…hahahahaaa. I went in and i thought a bomb had gone off somewhere,,,people were laying on the floor and the place was rammed…the receptionist said id be waiting about 8 hours …so i came home…

Wife in for operation. Left her at lunchtime so thought I’d go to the cafe to get something to eat. Well that many hospital staff in cafe area couldn’t find a seat to eat my food. Surely they have their own canteen !!

My mum has been in the Royal hospital since suffering a stroke on the 11th a July . My views on her treatment will be given once we get her home . Watch this space …. My review today is about car park 6 . This is the only designated car park for the part of the hospital my mum is in . ALL other car parks in this area are staff only and never full , car park 6 is nearly always full mostly with staff . If visitors park in the staff car park we would get in trouble but it’s ok for staff to fill our car park up and cause inconvenience to us

Had multiple experiences at the hospital, some good and some bad which is why I’m going for a mid ground three stars.First visit - Advised after many hours by 111 to get a taxi to a&e with suspected appendicitis (had been in pain for 18 hours at this point). A&E waiting room was quiet but I was left in a room for hours after a blood test until I was finally told I probably did have appendicitis. Left again for hours while waiting to find out if I could have surgery. When I finally had surgery it was almost two days since the pain started and I’m lucky my appendix didn’t burst. The anaesthetists were the only staff that were lovely and explained things on this visit. I couldn’t wait to leave but was kept in another day for some reason and then was discharged when I started feeling worse and was actively throwing up.Second visit - Waiting in A&E with my grandmother. Paramedics were nice when they finally arrived at the care home and they were surprised when they walked into A&E hours later that we were still waiting. My nan was finally given a side room at 4am and I decided to go home and get some sleep, assuming that because I had told all staff I had been in contact with that she had Alzheimer’s that they would keep an eye on her. She fell and broke her hip and eventually died in hospital. The notes in her report after I complained state they didn’t know she had Alzheimer’s and didn’t risk assess her. She couldn’t understand the staff (to be fair I really struggled with some of the accents to) so they became impatient with her. There was other failings but I’ll try to keep this review short, my grandmother was failed.Third visit - With the fertility clinic, this was during covid restrictions in 2021. Lady was nice who did my ultrasound and was reassuring even if I felt hopeless.Fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh visit (scans, well-being check and birth centre)Had to wait hours past my appointment for my second scan, I was the last person seen despite others coming in after me. Thought they had forgotten me. It’s always a struggle to get blood out of me so I can’t knock them for that. Midwives and ultrasound techs were all nice and friendly. Can’t fault any of the midwives at the birth centre and the anaesthetists were yet again very lovely (first one did the epidural wrong and seemed rushed but the second one with someone shadowing her went above and beyond to make sure the second epidural worked). Felt like we were in the way on the recovery ward though, I wanted to go home but had to stay in an extra day. They seemed annoyed that we wanted to check the baby was in her car seat ok for the first time going home as she had a cardigan on and we didn’t know if it was too thick.Car parking fees were reinstated and going back and forth with well-being checks, sweeps, inductions and birth cost a fortune. Also a shame they closed the car park to visitors (car park 5) as it then meant a longer walk to the birth centre.

Fantastic hospital, clean, modern staff are all courteous, polite, friendly and caring. I gave birth to my Son here in December. We were both really well looked after. The wards are small, clean, modern and the amentities are lovely as far as hospitals go. It was probably as close to a private maternity hospital experience as you can get in the NHS. Having given birth in a bigger City hospital previously I can safely say the city hospital was not a patch on the care and service level provided here. It's a lovely small, well run, well staffed hospital. Recommend to anyone looking at maternity wards!
