Falls Road Library

The Falls' Road Carnegie Library is an invaluable venue in the Clonard community in West Belfast.I first became a library member while st primary school in the 1970s, when this was my local library. And I still am a regular library-goer in other parts of Belfast now, as I no longer live in the Clonard area, where I was born and reared. My only complaint is that permission ought never have been granted to allow white PVC window frames to be fitted whichdefaced this beautiful stone-fronted library. It ought to be a listed building (if it is not already) and I'm sure the generous philanthropist, Andrew Carnegie, would not approve of these modifications which, while perhaps necessary, could have been created in a format to complement the original stone, as opposed to spoiling the look of the library, which it does, in my humble opinion. How does anyone else feel?

An excellent, handy wee library. Beautiful on the outside, informative on the inside.

Very quiet cosy place to study or read a book. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
