Very rude customer service. Called the Edinburgh customer services line to arrange for a pickup of a single item and the lady who answered was the absolute definition of being unhelpful and rude.Once you pay your invoice you are at John Pye's mercy so either pick an unfeasible time or pay extra for the privilege to pickup an item I have already paid for.

Some really good bargains to be found here. If you can, go view items you're interested in first, else look very carefully at the photos to make sure you're happy with the things you want to buy.

Avoid. I thought this place was too good to be true so made a small online purchase to test it. Three weeks after paying for the item its nowhere to be seen. The customer service is a masterclass in waffle, excuses and typing losts without saying anything....apparently its in the T&Cs that they are allowed up to 30 days to send items 'during busy periods'......but it's OK, once that month has passed, if I still don't have it, I have the pleasure of raising another query for them to investigate.....and no doubt get the same outcome. They seriously couldn't care less.On another item I noticed they wanted £45 to deliver two bicycle tyres..£45! I asked if that was right...told delivery costs are individually set for each auction..ok, I knew that but £45?...for something the size of a shoe box? I've had an entire kitchen delivered for less....told delivery costs are individually set for each auction...'computer says no' customer service response. Glad I didn't buy that 'bargain'.

Terrible. So I won auction and I used one of the men with a van" which is advertise on email with invoice by John Pye. Guy arrived everything is fine. Iteams destroyed cables broken nothing works. When I contacted saleroom they said its my fault as I'm should test it when it was collected. I expected iteams to be tested before they put on sale. I feel ripped off. I reported issue within 1 hour from collection. Terrible company not good sales practice and customer service. Staff repat over and over about term conditions but let's be honest nobody read it. I been with them for 2 years time to say goodbye and take it future."

Ordered various heaters in winter, 9/10 didn't turn off or were broken to pieces or had electrical burn. How is it legal? John Pye ignored my emails and told me that SOLD AS SEEN. No money back guarantee, bank cannot do anything. Could just put money in the bin then give to those scammers!!!

Friendly staff but items broken faulty missing pieces so complete waste of money do not use them!Customer service stateLots at our auctions are not sold as being new, working, complete or fit for any purpose.So be warned your buying an item they state is not fit for any purpose.

After having bought from John Pye many times, I think 3 stars is fair. Staff have always been decent. Items are usually broken though. Maybe you will get lucky now and again but usually broken items. The worst part about John Pye is when they take deceptive pictures when an item is clearly broken. View before you bid if you don't want broken items.

2 stars might be unfair and my review is based on the group including this place. I have bought 8 different lots from here and the one in Wales. I made two big mistakes. One was buying only from online images. Two was not realising delivery is not combined. I bought 5 items where the delivery charge was £35 each. I had thought this be combined. It cost a lot less than £175 to deliver but that is the charge. For the other 3 lots I picked up. However from these lots of multiple items nothing actually works and some items are damaged. I definitely would not buy without seeing in person but it could be fine if you physically go. But the viewing times are very short.

As with most people who buy from here, I feel ripped off and robbed blind. Staff very unhelpful and very demanding overall. I will no longer buy anything from here as the service and prices are rediculous, deliberately taking decietful photos to make items look better than they are, absolutely not acceptable on any level, especially when you pay such high buyer fees to start with. Currently 45% on top of the hammer price which is absolutely extortionate.
