I recently went to see a specialist nurse and consultant at New Cross eye infirmary. I was diagnosed with MGD- which is hugely effecting my day to day life.I’d had my appointment cancelled twice over the last 6 months:They basically gave me some drops and told me that it’s incurable and they can’t do much else ! When I asked is there anything they can suggest to help me improve it ? The answer from the consultant was no ! Just no !The nurse was more helpful and gave me a few suggestions:Since then I have found a whole community of people on the internet and YouTube (including doctors) who have ideas and tips and are just a wealth of help and knowledge ! I won’t name the doctor I saw. But she was extremely unhelpful and I only hope others have better treatment from her !

I am sat here waiting which I don't mind. The 2 nurses I have see today are amazing friendly souls that have provided old school compassion . They have treated me with respect, compassion and explanations along the way.

Visited the emergency eye infirmary today and have to say the service was impeccable. I was looked after so well from start to finish everyone was so friendly and accommodating. I was in & out within the hour and was very impressed. The nurse/doctor that treated me was amazing (I can’t remember her name) and so caring.

Went in at 8:15am got seen at 8:30am and was out by 9am with medication and thorough care from the nurse, I think she was called manjeet. Beautiful caring compassionate nurse. Wish all staff was like this lady in emergency services. Cant fault anything. Everything was so clean and even receptionist was really nice. A really positive experience first time using this service.

Staff are always pleasant and helpful but can't seem to understand that patients with dementia will not remember the instructions given on leaving each room in the process of eye tests, scans, injections.Despite telling staff every time we visit they will still insist on telling my charge who instantly forgets... Surely it's not beyond the trust to flag a file with a symbol to denote that the carer is to be informed of outcomes and instructions at all times?

I attended Eye Infirmary ED today. A34. Walk in service. Busy but the staff appeared to be working incredibly hard to get patients seen in good time. Seen by Nurse Practitioner Ann who was very good and prescribed all necessary treatment. Great service. Thank you.

Got an appointment very quickly, arrived before time, some construction going on but plenty of parking available. There is also parking available on the Bentley Bridge retail park opposite. Your not supposed to use it, but many people do as parking on the hospital can be quite stressful and expensive. The Eye infirmary is located in building A34, very easy to find from the main entrance, simply walk straight and it's the first building on your right, it is clearly sign posted. The waiting room was full but it was ticking along as expected. As soon as I went in, I was given an instant basic eye review and then told to sit back down.I then waited an hour to be seen. But this is okay as other people were all in the same situation and some people clearly had some eye issues that needed more immediate attention.I was invited into a room, where we had a discussion regarding my issue. My eyes weren't checked after weeks of issues specifically with my left eye.The problem has returned and left me having to use one eye for days at a time and be constantly washing my left eye and picking conjunctivitis out of it.I love the NHS it's concept and the people in it, apart from the politicisation of it.An optician who is not a doctor, made me show him my hand which is linked and continued to tell me I did not have rheumatoid arthritis. However a trip to an x-ray department showed my finger is quite badly broken and swollen.
