The Railyard Student Accommodation

Horrible experience. I stayed in their accomodation over summer and on my last day five dodgy painters appeared on my floor who made a mess all over the place. They did not take the necessary precautions and even slept in the students' beds. I had white colour all over my clothes and tried to claim back the money from the company. The company denied to reimburse me for the mess they made. The management of Railyard was of absolutely NO HELP. After tons of emails the result is NOTHING - no money back and a very poor experience. Never again.

I spent three fantastic months at this accommodation, where the building and service truly exceeded my expectations. The space allocated to each resident was perfectly designed. My en suite room with a shared kitchen was not only more spacious than other options but also boasted a delightful modern design that added to the overall comfort of my stay.The thoughtful benefits provided to tenants further enhance the experience. Access to an on-site gym, a convenient laundry room, and the reassurance of 24-hour reception, security, and CCTV contribute to a sense of well-being. The all-inclusive rent, covering bills, and the exceptional broadband service, consistently fast and reliable, eliminated any worries about internet issues. These amenities are especially valuable for students like me, allowing us to concentrate on university work without unnecessary concerns. Overall, the accommodations and amenities made my stay exceptionally pleasant.

Best student accommodation in Cambridge. Here for my second year now and cannot really complain. Very convenient area, lovely reception team who are very welcoming and helpful with any query. Rooms are very luxurious compared to other options in Cambridge. Highly recommend.

TL’DR: Minimal respect for tenants’ privacy. Felt insecure of my personal belongings leaving in the room. Many people without you knowing can open your studio door and enter anytime.This morning, a group of men just opened the studio’s door while I was in my bed without even knocking. Two wore staff shirts and two looked like teenage boys and kept giggling. Although I received an email notice less than 24 hours ago said there would be mattress replacement, little did I know they would just open the apartment door without any noticing or knocking. I called the front desk, and was asked “are you sure they didn’t knock”, which made me feel even worse. I asked them to tell the staff come immediately because I wanted to confront them. The first staff apologised for not knocking because they were told the rooms were vacant, and the two external helper (I assume?) who looked like teenager boys just kept giggling again. I felt very much being belittled.Similar incident happened over a week ago, someone just knocked very loudly in the morning without introducing themselves. I didn’t know anything was going on so I told them to come back later. I went to ask the front desk and was told the email meant to send me got stuck (like a postal mail?), but they scheduled for some shower head replacement. I took it as an accident and just let them know please inform me next time.These are the two incidents happened because I stepped out of the room later than usual. I wonder how many times people had entered the room without me noticing before. It was so easy for them to enter the room and impossible to for me to know if I were away. I’ve kept looking for my sunglasses that disappeared one day, and hope it’s not someone who entered the room took it. But at this point, I feel really disappointed at this place. I don’t usually write negative reviews because I worry they might hurt small medium businesses. But I write here for warnings. I've lived in rental properties for almost a decade now, and this is the first I felt being so disrespected as a tenant. I'm not talking about front desk staff are not friendly, but I mean the basic privacy and security one should feel at the place they pay to stay and sleep. People should be aware of these incidents. Parents, if you have children, especially girls who live in single studios, you should be aware before making the decisions.

I’ve been at the Railyard student accommodation about to go on three years, and I’ve never been happier. The Railyard isn’t just a student accommodation it’s also home. John, Louisa, George and Georgia are the best reception team anyone could ask for. Not only do they help with queries related to the site but they are also there for any other additional support. They are your reception team when you need them to be, your friend when you need one and people who genuinely care. I’ve never felt more welcomed and safe in place, I’m very happy that I have chosen to live at the Railyard, The rooms are always up to a brilliant standard, no matter what room you book it is a guarantee that it will be clean and high quality . This is really what you call prestige student living. This will be my last year staying with them and I can honestly say that I will miss it.

As per usual the staff at railyard reception have and continue to be outstanding, immensely helpful and overall fab-u-lous. Only criticism would be that there isn’t anything I can give for constructive criticism. They’be hit the nail on the head with how they conduct themselves and the pride they take in their work - making sure everything is going great.

Highly recommend. Fantastic reception team. Reasonable price baring in mind bills are included. Really convenient area being so close to the train station.

The Railyard is in a great location next to the Cambridge train station with only a 20 minuet walk into the city centre and to different university campuses. The Railyard has extremely supportive staff, especially the receptionists, George, Louisa and John!

Awful!! Im staying in apartment 147 for two weeks. So expensive and in 11 days they haven't clean at all! And cleaning was included in the price. I had to ask for clean towels at reception, and I told them several times cleaners skipped my room and they are doing nothing! The mattress is so thin and bad, you can feel all the springs. Also if your room faces back, you hear the trains. Only good thing is a huge TV. I have travelled a lot and stayed in very different accomodations and never found anything like this. Not recommended at all!
