Barchester - Lawton Rise Care Home

Adele and her team at Lawton Rise are lovely, my Dad was only in there care for 1 week just before Christmas as sadly he passed away, they did their upmost to look after him and make him comfortable, I would not hesitate to recommend this care home.

My wife has been a resident for over five years, I can honestly say Lawton rise has always treated Patricia so well, all the staff are excellent,any problems are sorted out very promptly, I am glad to say that problems are very few ,in fact I can't remember the last time that a problem actually occurred, as I said earlier all the staff are great , but four of the staff have been outstanding to me , firstly Jennifer the manager,then Claire the assistant manager, thirdly Zoe who has helped me many times in my early and darkest days and last but not least is Julie the administration lady ,she's as good as gold.

We are looking for somewhere permanent for my mum to go, and we made an appointment at Lawton Rise to view it. On arrival, the manager, not even bothering to get up from her desk initially, denied all knowledge of the visit, and shouted that she’d already done an hour’s overtime, and that she needed to go! It’s a very difficult time for families in our situation, without being treated so rudely, and she definitely won’t be going there now.

Lawton Rise is an excellent Care Home. Mum is always clean and well dressed. Clare Dudley and team are always welcoming and friendly. Relatives are able to use light and airy lounge when visiting and offered refreshments on arrival. The establishment is well maintained and extremely clean. The visitors' toilet is luxurious. Residents' bedrooms are clean, bedlinen changed regularly. Full credit to the Housekeeping team and kind nursing and caring team.

Please ignore my previous reviews on the Lawton Rise website (Clive B) which I have repeatedly asked them to remove in light of the fact they, and their parent company have shown a remarkable inability to deal with a query I raised with them over five months ago. Having escalated this to a complaint with their Feedback team their response when it was eventually forthcoming, included inaccuracy and contradicted the information I had been given that started the problem! Be aware that despite all previous positive experience at this home if you are not family/guardian don’t expect any understanding or sympathy if a problem arises. With extreme sadness as this matter is still not resolved, I have passed the details to the Care Quality Commission.Update 3/7/2022Thanks to CQC this matter has now been resolved. An unfortunate situation that should not have arisen and would not have if everyone was kinder to one another. Basically, this home is run by kind and caring people. If you have doubts or problems, be patient, talk to them. We are all in difficult times but we can make things better. But the Barchester Feedback Team are a total waste of time and space! And that is being polite.

The amount of work the staff member put in to care for the residents is really remarkable.

Beautiful care home, all the staff go above and beyond for their residents

This is supposed to be a nursing home. Well they are falling well short of being able to look after their residents.The district nurses have refused to go into Lawton rise to put catheters in because it is the job of the Lawton rise nursing staff. Well, they only have two people trained to do this and they don’t cover all shifts, so today my mother in law had to be taken by ambulance to A&E to have one fitted. Lawton rise rang my wife and said they needed her to meet her mother at A&E because they didn’t have the staff to send with her (what are they getting paid for). So an 88 year old woman and my wife have to go to hospital for 3 hrs during a COVID epidemic because staff aren’t trained and the district nurses won’t do their jobs. I am totally disgusted with Lawton Rise and the district nurses.

Lovely Home, staff very welcoming. Visited when there was a singer in for the Residents and they appeared to really be enjoying it. Lots of activities going, was lovely to see!
