Lately, I've been yearning for more meaningful interaction with people and a richer experience of life in general. Every evening seemed to blend into the next, a monotonous cycle of streaming services, YouTube, and endless scrolling on social media (perhaps you can relate).I decided it was time to break this pattern and engage my mind in a more productive way, to acquire new skills and perhaps find a community to connect with. That's when I stumbled upon the introductory classes offered by Woking Improv Theatre. I took a leap of faith and decided to give it a shot.The initial week was a bit challenging, but Pip, our instructor, was truly remarkable at dismantling inhibitions and making everyone feel welcome and ready to participate. Woking Improv Theatre provides a safe haven where you can let loose and not worry about looking silly; in fact, embracing mistakes is all part of the fun.Over the span of six weeks, we transformed from a group of strangers with awkward interactions into a close-knit troupe of improvisational artists who fearlessly jump into the fray and have a blast doing it.Woking Improv has boosted my confidence, especially in situations that used to make me anxious, such as public speaking or group settings. And we managed to achieve all of this while sharing hearty laughter with one another!

I always wanted to try my hand at improv so I singed up to the beginners course hosted by Pip. This has been the best decision I have made in a while! Pip is an amazing teacher! She will make you feel comfortable no matter your background. She will not just help you come out of your shell, you will actually start craving the spotlight! You will look forward to each session even more so than the last, learning to love acting the fool in front of everyone, bonding with your fellow classmates and learning how to fearlessly let your ideas flow from your mind to the great amusement to all those around you!So do it! I love visiting WIT.Pip is a fantastic talent with a warm, welcoming style and WIT is a fantastic community.Perfect for beginners, Pip's style of facilitation and teaching draws on her huge technical knowledge and years of experience and training. Classes are deeply playful and delivered through a warm and supportive patient approach, so you don't realise how much you are learning and how you have innately been practicing the strong fundamentals of improv.Great for experienced improvisers, the membership is full of strong improvisers and a broad range of visiting professional improvisers (from shows like Showstoppers and Austentatious) share specialties and workshops to help you discover and practice more in-depth aspects and push yourself.There are opportunities to perform in and around Woking and to meet and make connections with members of the improv community in London.I have performed with Pip and she is a generous, experience and talented improvisor and a master of imparting these skills and styles to anyone lucky enough to get a spot at WIT.

I had the time of my life at the Improv course with Pip. Pip and everyone in the class were absolute angels. Every night ended in fits of laughter and smiles all round. Would highly recommend Woking Improv to anyone you genuinely like ;) Thank you!

Great class for beginners! I joined the drop in session on Wednesday. My first experience with improv and I loved it. The group were so welcoming and Pip was great.Would recommend joining the beginner class if you can. A great way to meet some interesting people and discover an new passion.

Cannot recommend WIT highly enough! I guarantee you will come away having laughed your head off. Pip has created such a beautiful, welcoming space where you have the freedom to play in a wonderfully supported environment. With her extensive professional experience in teaching, performing and improv, her classes are always super accessible, well-planned and above all, fun. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or an absolute newbie there’s a space for you. I love it so much and think everyone should take the leap of faith and join WIT! It’s truly brilliant. Introduction to Improv is a great group and I thoroughly recommend it, whether you want to have fun and forget your troubles for a couple of hours, whether you want to build confidence or just try something new. Pip is a skilled and experienced teacher who took us through the basics of improv with games and sketches, followed by discussion. Fun was the foremost factor. There is opportunity to continue and further their improv for those who wish to.

I have recently completed the beginners improv course. It was a fantastic experience that I can't recommend highly enough. Pip expertly got everyone engaged and taught skills that are invaluable not only in improve but to day to day life.

WIT offers weekly drop in sessions for improvisers of all abilities. Complete beginners, seasoned improvisers and everybody in between are welcomed. There are also occasional courses and workshops which provide great improv outside of London.It is becoming more difficult to find in-person activities in the area and this is a great thing to try. It’s a nice community and the sort of place you can drop by when you fancy a laugh, beware however, it can soon become addictive! If you’re thinking of giving improv a shot, this is the place to go!
