Great food, but terrible service.Let's start off with the huge negative, this was probably one of the worst services I received in any restaurant. No one is at the tills, no one is there to seat us, no one is there to take our order, no one to get our bill, etc. The staff" that were there seems as if they have given up on life and did not respond to us when we were talking to them.....When we were ready to place our order

The food was awesome as always... however, the waiting time was way too long this time!!!They have opportunities to improve on their cleanliness...If you like Somali food, you would deffo want to give this a try... the green chilli sauce was yummy!!!!If they can improve their cleanliness this might be a good place to chill and enjoy awesome food...

The shop itself could do with some decor and presentation but other than that the food can’t be faulted. Lovely Somali food with generous portions. Didn’t have to wait too long for the order either. Would absolutely recommend

I recently dined at Damal, a Somali restaurant, and I decided to try their 3-person platter, which included two lamb shanks, chicken, and rice. I was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness of the meat; both the lamb shanks and chicken were incredibly soft and flavorful, making my meal truly enjoyable. The rice was also a standout, packed with delicious flavors that perfectly complemented the meat. The portion size was quite generous, and the £33 price for the platter felt reasonable given the amount of food provided. There was an ample amount of rice, making it a satisfying meal.I should note that the restaurant was quite busy, especially on a Friday after jummah. I had to wait for about 15 minutes to secure a table. This suggests that Damal is a popular dining spot, which can be both a positive and negative aspect. On one hand, it indicates that many people enjoy their food, but on the other hand, the wait time might be a bit longer during peak hours. In terms of the restaurant's ambiance, there is seating available downstairs that is more suitable for larger groups or families, which is great if you're dining with a big party. In summary, my experience at Damal was quite positive, with delicious, tender meat, flavourful rice, and generous portions, although it's worth considering potential wait times due to the restaurant's popularity during busy hours.

The food here was exquisite! The service was great. Staff were helpful with guidance on what to order and what is popular amongst the regulars. The atmosphere is friendly and brotherly. Not a fine dining kind of place and there were mostly men there.Went as a group of 6 to try this Somali restaurant and we really enjoyed it. The food was extremely tasty, the vibes were friendly with the staff and customers. We ordered the 3 to 4 (two guys ordered individually) shared platter with a base of Somali rice, two chicken legs and 2 lamb shanks and a bunch of vegetables and salad. And were given soup on the house as a starter!

The food was delicious. Tender lamb with good amount of seasoning. Rice was nice and fluffy. Great portion size for £12. Only complaint is that they didn’t have any starters. The service is what you expect from a Somali restaurant, near enough non-existent. There was an Asian waiter who did okay that’s why I gave service 2/5 rather than 1/5.To get served you need to find the main guy who takes the orders. He’s quite blunt. Told us food will take 30 minutes but came out quicker Alhamdulillah.Apart from the waiting staff shouting to take orders etc, it was an okay atmosphere where you can have a chat with friends and family. The furniture needs updating as it all looks worn. The tables should be spaced out more as there’s not much space to manoeuvre between tablesIn conclusion, this place is worth coming just for the food. If you’re expecting a 5 star treatment and experience you’re better off looking elsewhere

First time having Somali food and it did not disappoint. The portion sizes are generous, the meat fell off the bone and the rice was amazing.Personally feel like the interior design of the restaurant needs to be looked at as it didn’t really give me a sense of comfortability whilst I dined, and the toilet definitely wasn’t somewhere you’d want to visit to say the least. But all in all, great value food.

Just experienced Damal Restaurant today, and it definitely lived up to the TikTok hype! The portion sizes were massive; my friend and I couldn't even finish our meal. The flavors, though, were a perfect 10/10—absolutely delicious. If you're looking for a place with generous servings and amazing taste, I highly recommend Damal. A fantastic dining experience!

Walking into the Somali food spot felt like stepping into a cozy, welcoming spot. I decided to go for a mix of meats: beefsteak and shoulder of lamb. The flavours were incredible, the meat juicy and tasty. The way they plated the dished shows that they really care about their food. But what made this place special was the genuine Somali taste in every dish. The staff was friendly and knew their stuff, making me feel right at home. All in all, this Somali food place is a hidden gem. They serve amazing food in a comfortable setting, with great service. I left happy and can't wait to return. If you're up for a unique and delicious dining experience, give this spot a try.
