Were lucky to get a table for breakfast before walking around Hexham and couldn't fault it. Lovely varied menu and beautifully cooked. Lots of home baking on counter too. Very good value for money.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2021 Rising Cafe has adapted well to the current pandemic and the requirements to be Covid secure. As a result, there is no sit-in service, but take away is available with a limited number of people on the premises at one time, and hand sanitising stations. The take-away menu is wide ranging. The staff even offered to bring the food I purchased across to my car, if I was parked. Excellent coffee and lemon drizzle cake! For opening times and available menu, see my additional photos.ORIGINAL: This excellent find is not only a vintage cafe serving a delicious range of hot food, snacks and cakes, but also a social enterprise charity (originally from a faith base, which still underlies its work) in which employees are people who have had a range of problems (including addictions) and have recovered and are being reintegrated into the community. As such the cafe is an incredibly welcoming place both in terms of staff and the environment. I applaud this ethos, and the staff that I met were shining examples of the success of the project. The food itself was quickly served (delicious lemon drizzle cake) and with a cheery attitude and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The premises are readily accessible to those with pushchairs and wheelchairs, and the washroom facilities are accessible also.

Rising Cafe
Goid value, wholesome toasted sandwiches with a dressed salad and chips, with a mug of tea. What's not to love? Had the dog with us, so sat outside overlooking a lovely park, watching the car and foot traffic go by.staff were friendly and efficient. Made use of their 'facilities ' too, so all is well with the world!

The full english was ok but nothing special. It was overpriced for what it was and the odd plate shape made it difficult to fit the toast on with the other ingredients. The tea cooled down very quickly because it was in china cups. The eggs Benedict was overpriced and a bit sparce. The cafe itself was friendly and we enjoyed the decoration.

Nice friendly cafe just round the corner from the abbey. Excellent coffee. If you like your coffee less strong, ask for one espresso shot in small size coffee drinks. Otherwise you will love the strength of the drinks. Scones were great too, served with lovely homemade jam. Reasonable prices. Good selection of veggie and vegan options. We'll be back!
