Dobbies Garden Centre Swindon

Good plant selection and the staff are very pleasant but their range of Christmas gifts for gardeners was very limited, which was surprising for a 'garden centre'. Too many Xmas decorations.. I left empty handed.

Had lunch and ordered 3 dishes. Taste acceptable. I like fried fish more. Environment is comfortable. But probably short of staff. Forgot to bring milk for tea and missed the bread & butter which goes with the fish and chips. Staff who took order was helpful and cheerful. The staff who delivered food is really task oriented. Reluctant to deliver the missed bread n butter. But I will come back to try the mini breakfast as the cost looks attractive.

Nice large store always clean and tidy when I visit and things seem very well cared for. All staff I spoke to today were very helpful . They have a large selection of plants both in door plants and outdoor. The store has literally everything you would need for indoor and outdoor gardening (although prices tend to be a bit more pricey than little local garden centres). It has a cafe that always has people in it, so assuming they do nice food and drinks there (but haven't tried it myself) they do half price sales occasionally, today was my lucky day, as I went on a day they had 50% off on lots of plants and lots of discounted garden pots. I went in for 2 plants and come out with 23!

We just arrived to get some lunch en route from Windsor to home and found no one available to seat us after waiting we found a table and asked about menu/ordering and the lady told us it was tsbke service so we sat! The restaurant was busy and a few staff seemed to be chaotically trying to cope. We decided it was going to be a long wait and got up to go. The enthusiastic chap said to take a sea gif two mins and he would be with us. He disappeared into the etha and chaos and after ten minutes an old lady emerged from the kitchen with two plates and dropped the garlic bread on the floor … to my sheer amazement she popped it on the customers plate as she chatted away with her … this was our cue to leave rather quickly. Having read the reviews on here I think something needs to be done by health and safety rather quickly before a real problem occurs.

The café is excellent, really reasonably priced and good breakfasts. Steve the maitre d’ really makes the place though, first visit but would definitely go again.

Pricing is not clear.Picked up something near til thought it was under a tenner turned out to be 24.99 good job I only had some plant feed and Christmas cards so easily alerted when she wanted over 50quid!This has happened a few times in there before. Will stop popping in a it's literally up the road and just get bits from elsewhere instead

This Dobbies really needs a refresh! We visited as we charged our EV, which was the only plus point! Well done Gridserve.The garden centre is seriously out of date compared to say Cirencester Dobbies, which we visit regularly. It was around 4.30pm and for some reason half the shop didn't have any light on so it was strange shopping in the dark!

Plants were disappointing not much stock and the shrubs looked very expensive and rather poor.Went in for an afternoon cuppa to the restaurant, it's now table service and a very loud man took our order, he rather monopolised the whole place which spoilt the whole experience! It didn't make us want to go back.
