Lawrence Hill Health Centre

Had a very good experience on the whole with Lawrence Hill Heath Center. Tried and failed to register online (so that part of the process could be improved), but going in to register was quick and easy. From there, booking an appointment with the GP was easy, from there telephone consultation and in my instance blood test. All went very quickly and this were all on time. Nice staff at the centre.

When going to make an appointment to see a Doctor I am not comfortable with the receptionists asking for full detail of my condition in full public view. There should be red floor box or a line to stop other people listening to you conversation at the desk ie exclusion zone marked on the floor, similar to the ones at an ATM.

Recently moved to this surgery and although I tend to avoid the doctors due to poor experiences in the past, I fell ill and needed to be seen. Other than the long waiting time for an in person appointment (which is common everywhere and is a symptom of a larger problem with the NHS), the appointment I had filled me with confidence that I was in good hands. The doctor was thorough, personable and explained all the tests he was doing and why. I didn't feel like I was being rushed out as quick as possible for the next patient, but felt that he actually cared about my health and wanted to get to the bottom of it. The appointment lasted for 25 minutes and I felt reassured that they were covering all their bases. This might sound like pretty standard stuff to some, but the care far exceeds what I have felt at other surgeries in the past.

All I wanted was a letter to confirm a medical condition! Gave a month's notice yet up until the day before I needed it(constantly chasing) I just get given a medical print out of my medical history! NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR. They have a call back system but I never got a call back and was sent a stupid text to say if I still needed to speak to them to call back & I'd be priority! At this point I was already at the surgery trying to get this issue sorted out. Up until this point they have been somewhat ok. I would have given zero stars if it was allowed.

My 20 years experience of Lawrence Hill has always been a positive one. From reception to nurses and doctors, all are friendly and caring and have done their best in difficult circumstances (Covid and constant pressures from government) to continue giving of their best. I am grateful to all at the health centre.

Been with this practice since it was Dr. John and Dr. GIunner on Barrow Road. Visit for annual review. Blood taken painlessly, blood pressure high and another appointment arranged. Nurse in treatment room very friendly and reassuring. Never had problem making appointments Staff always friendly and helpful.

I'm really not happy with service you provide. To my surprise, I found recently I'm not registered here.I called you feeling really sick and I didn't receive any help which is appalling. I was registered for over 15+ years and my last visit was 2022 I was told no appointments available. Then, again this year I was told that I'm not registered here. I'm really confused an concerned how easily I was removed from your patient's register. I didn't change my address since I first came to you. The receptionist wasn't helpful when asked what happened and why I was taken off. Not sure if this affect my medical records in any way but I would really appreciate some help on this matter.

I can't recall going to my gp when I didn't have an issue. I waited over a month for an appointment which was on Monday at 4pm. I waited until half 4. The doctor I was supposed to see then called a patient. So clearly I still had at least 20 minutes more to wait. assuming I was next of course which wasn't guaranteed. Normally I wouldn't mind but I had to take medication just after 4. If I had known I would have taken it with me. Very upset and disappointed. I was also upset when doctor baker saw me years ago when I had pain and a white discharge in my backside. He told me not to worry. He didn't even examine me. I went to a clinic to find out I had an std. He should have picked up on it. I recently was off work with mental health issues. Doctor Dixon told me not to worry. That was his professional advice. Not very helpful or professional iny opinion.
