The Black Bull
I recently visited the Black Bull, an Irish pub with my sister, and I wanted to share my experience. The pub had a charming ambiance that caught our attention, so we decided to stop in for a meal and a beer. However, my experience took an unexpected turn.As I was the designated driver for the day, I was interested in trying a zero-alcohol beer. Given the prominent Guinness signs and marketing throughout the pub, I inquired about the availability of zero-alcohol Guinness. To my surprise, the bartender informed me that they only had Heineken Zero in stock. I couldn't help but express my surprise, considering the significant promotion of zero-alcohol Guinness by the brand. The bartender's response caught me off guard as he pointed out that the Guinness signs didn't explicitly mention zero" To add to the situation

I visited The Black Bull pub with my family and opted for the pleasant beer garden seating. We ordered two portions of chips with our drinks, but unfortunately, faced a significant delay. Despite waiting for 30 minutes, there was no sign of the chips. When I approached the waitress, who had just served another table, she seemed unaware of our order. She promised to check on it, but another 10 minutes passed without any update.Frustrated, I spoke to the staff member who took our order. He apologized for the delay, blaming it on a ticket system issue." He assured me that our order would be prioritized. However

Didn't eat, but may have had a lot of drinks! Barely remember getting home! But it was a good atmosphere and a live musician performing on guitar with backing tracks was enjoyable. First visit in many years and I used to live on Torcross road when I was a kid. So it's almost an old local! Will look to try the food next time.

Was with my 7 year old, staff super friendly to him even though it took him literally 5 minutes to decide what to drink. I've been to The Black Bull quite a few times, and each time, I've always had a great meal. Would recommend to anyone to eat here.

Really nice beer garden and outdoor seating area with large screens! Friendly staff, and good food. It would even better if they could have some guest draught craft beers, maybe a few taps offering some other beer types from smaller breweries. Some more vegan food options would be a good addition!

The Black Bull
The Black Bull, our cherished local Irish pub, is a true hidden treasure that consistently exceeds expectations. With an enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of Ireland itself, it offers a genuine slice of Irish hospitality right in our neighborhood. What truly sets the Black Bull apart is its exceptional culinary offerings. The burgers are a revelation – bursting with flavor and succulence that leave you craving another bite. And then there are the nachos – a generous serving of pure delight with tantalizing toppings.Affordability is another feather in the Black Bull's cap. Its reasonable prices make it a go-to spot for both casual gatherings and special celebrations. The pub's expansive indoor and garden spaces ensure comfort even during peak hours. However, it's not only the delectable food and wallet-friendly prices that make the Black Bull a standout. The traditional Irish decor, warm seating, and welcoming staff create an ambiance that feels like a familiar embrace. Whether it's a casual meetup, family dinner, or winding down after a long day, the Black Bull offers an unforgettable atmosphere.Adding to the charm, the pub features captivating live music that elevates the experience to a whole new level. With foot-tapping tunes and soulful melodies, the Black Bull provides entertainment that resonates in your heart.Reflecting on my visits, one thing is clear – I'll undoubtedly be returning to the Black Bull. Its captivating atmosphere, lip-smacking burgers, heaping nachos, reasonable prices, ample space, and engaging live music make it an extraordinary establishment. The Black Bull isn't just a pub; it's a cherished haven that continues to beckon with its authenticity and allure.

I’m sorry to say, but if I’m being honest, the food wasn’t great at all. Calamari disappointed us the most, it tasted like nothing, cardboard would probably taste better.. at least there was some fresh salad on the side on the plus side. Service was good but tbf the food side not something id scream about if frozen cardboard is being served you need to have serious words with your chef ! Other than that not a bad pub but food drops your rating

Unfortunately this pub has gone downhill since the change in management, it's absolutely disgusting to turn away people based on the way they dress especially considering the hot weather today and the fact other patrons were wearing the exact same clothes (shorts). This has been my families local for decades and we have been regular customers but this has really put us off, we hate been great supporters of our local in the past but this treatment is disgusting and I hope it is a one off. All I would suggest to other potential customers is to be wary of who's on the door as they will profile you and you may fall foul of their false assumptions and judgment.Food is not the same for a few years since one of their chefs left, Sunday roasts aren't bad but portions limited.Atmosphere, since the refit a few years back it felt less cosy, clientele tend to be on the younger side and it can get on the excitable side at times. They have regular live music on a Saturday but this used to be on a Friday Saturday Sunday but they cut down which is a great shame. They had a refit of the garden that is nice with any tables and booths and outdoor heaters and an outdoor bar.

I want to like this place, but Sunday lunch was incredibly dry. It came almost instantly so suspect it's just cooked in the morning. The garden and TV screens are great and some of the best in the area for sport, but outside of the venue, the quality is a bit mediocre for the price. A glass of red for instance was £8.50!
