We stayed over during the Fringe festival - it as booked for me and my partner and it's a bit tight space for two people. The pillows are quite slim, the towel they provide are bare minimum, yet they still charge a premium. I guess this is what Fringe is all about anyway ...I would only recommend this as a last resort

Absolutely disgusting - checked in to find a dirty room, told staff only to return 9 hours later to find the room still dirty! Nothing says welcome home quite like an unmade bed with dirty used bedlinen, dirty towels, soap used up and a full waste bin. Phoned reception before it closed and found one set of towels (for a double room), two stained sheets and two pillowcases, but no duvet cover. Needless to say I won’t return - a total joke for the prices charged.

We stayed here for 4 nights during the Fringe, having had a pretty disastrous experience last year staying in someone's spare room.Location is decent, about 15 mins walk to Pleasure Courtyard and 30 mins to Monkey Barrel. All in all it was fine, and as we expected. Less polished than photos but a decent base.Pros:Very accessible - easy to find, 24 hour entrance and exit and we found free parking nearby.Very clean and spacious outside of the actual room.Having access to a kitchen was nice, and made the Fringe a big cheaper.Decently priced (just over £100 a night).Foyer and shared spaces were nice, it had a library and game areas.Nice views over the other buildings!Cons:Room itself is tiny, my husband is 6ft tall and his feet hung out the end of the bed. The beds are small doubles, which is made clearer before check in than at booking. The mattresses are a bag of springs and on wooden bases.Because they are mini flats, there could be 10 couples sharing a kitchen. Everything is audible through the walls, and one morning someone stood in the corridor and yelled for half an hour. They may as well have been in our room. The doors bang loudly.

If your kid is going to Uni in Edinburgh, we're just a few weeks in but I'm already very happy with mine living here. Groups of 10 residents each have their own decently sized bed & bath with plenty of storage, and all share a large and well-equipped common/kitchen area. The company who runs the place puts on a lot of activities, and as a parent I'm very happy with the extensive security: one way in (and plenty of alarmed fire exits out), and depending on the time it's either manned or you need a key card (and there is always an RA on call), plus additional layers of key cards to get into your flat and then your room. Took some time to speak with the staff and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. Elevator available for those needing assistance to higher floors.

This was initially booked as a two night trip with my husband but life and work got in the way and I ended up going alone for just the second booked night. Although I'd informed the accommodation of this in advance, when I arrived it was very confusing for the check-in staff. It took a very long time for them to locate my booking and get my key sorted. However, they were very friendly whilst they tried to sort it out and once they had found the booking were helpful in carrying my bags to my room for me.The room itself was small but functional. Perfect if you just want a place to lay your head whilst you go out and explore the city. The rooms are en suite, having a toilet, sink and proper shower cubicle, which was a nice surprise as I've stayed in similar accommodation in other cities and the shower has not had a cubicle. The room had plenty of storage. There was also a large shared kitchen and seating area with sofa and flat screen TV. I did find myself quite relieved that I'd ended up travelling alone as the double bed really isn't suitable for double occupancy (see photo).Although there were signs up asking people to be considerate and not make noise after 11pm, there was a lot of noise until about 1.30am. This was likely due to the fact my stay was during the Fringe, but something to be aware of if you're considering staying.Be prepared to do some of the work for housekeeping - they ask you to strip your bed before you leave and there are signs up saying you'll be charged a cleaning fee if you don't leave the room how they want it. Check out was easy and the staff were able to recommend an excellent place nearby for breakfast.I'd stay again, but only if I was travelling alone.

Thank you to the staff at Salisbury Court for their assistance, when my cat Sebastian was injured. Sebastian recovering well. Dental brace off next week.

I live close to the Salisbury Court, and during this fringe, noise makes me stressed, and I can't sleep. People who stay in this accommodation, whether students or people for fringe, this party behaviour is selfish and horrible. This is an accommodation for resting, not for parting, especially at this time. I'm typing this at 3:52 AM, and I'm angry, thinking maybe report it to the council.

Basic facilities. Don't like the idea of for profit companies running hostels, prisons and the like. They try to squeeze profit out of everything. For example, the cook tops are entirely unusable. If you are serious about cooking, you need to bring your own. Also very little garbage collection space.

The place is tidy, clean and for mid August in Edinburgh then exceptionally good value for money but you need to be clear about what you get. It's a student room , no TV bed is small for a couple albeit just about a double, I managed to fall out one night. The decor is clean tidy but completley soul less . The bathroom and toilet is small, very small, the shower is so small that my wife who is 5,10 and 10 stone could not bend down , being a bit bigger I could just get in but couldn't bend or turn around. There is a shared kitchen , but we were out most of the time. The communal hallways were very tired. If all you want is a bed then fine but it was to much of a compromise for is.The reason I gave it 4 stars is that for the price and the fact its clean , tidy etc is a fair reflection, but not for me in the future.
