Just brilliant ! Today with Aylish we had our last training session for Otis . I cannot express how much Aylish working with us has changed ours and Otis’ lives so much for the better. A 3 year old unruly but lovable Dalmatian was hard to manage. From the very first interaction with K9 on a call back we have experienced nothing but professional, supportive and coaching help. Aylish has been amazing and her personable , knowledgable and positive style are a credit to herself and an asset K9. We have recognised how much we needed to change as much as Otis and from the start to now is unrecognisable. Sincere thank you and would highly recommend

We contacted Ruth and Martin about improving basics and providing our pointer with more freedom through better recall. We had followed 12 months plus of reward only training and whilst our pup is food oriented as soon as she saw a more rewarding distraction she was off. Through a blend of positive reinforcement and guided ecollar training she gradually became more responsive and reliable. We could never have let her off lead previously and long line was simply dangerous due to her speed and dexterity so using a balanced trainer was the only option to give our girl the life she deserves. She is happy, fulfilled and able to respond when asked. Thank you guys it’s changed all our lives❤️

We were impressed that from the very first telephone conversation we received useful, practical advice on initial steps to train our puppy. It has been reassuring to know that if any problems occurred we could quickly get help by text or phone at any time.Martin adapted the training programme to match our needs/concerns. The flexibility of the training focuses on the needs of the puppy/owners rather than a 'one size fits all approach, highlighting the fact that all dogs are individual. All the advice has been simple to follow, practical and effective. Martin has had a suggestion/answer to any query we have put to him. His manner is friendly yet professional.Brodie has reacted positively to Martin from their first encounter. He clearly trusts him and enjoys working with him.We would not hesitate to recommend K9 to anyone needing help with their dog!

Brilliant, effective dog trainers! In short, when we rang them Barney was reacting to most dogs we passed, walks were a nightmare and I constantly felt like I was failing him - we can now manage his reactivity with the heel and leave command, we don’t have to meticulously plan walks to avoid dogs, and we even have confidence that we will be able to get Barney a doggy friend in the future and will definitely be getting in touch with Yorkshire K9 when that time comes as they are amazing! In long…I got in touch with Yorkshire K9 after my Labrador Barney went for someone when lunging for the puppy they were holding. We had already been seeing a force-free/positive-only trainer and hadn’t really got anywhere with them - they had suggested his reactivity was due to dominance/testosterone and that having Barney neutered might help - it actually made things far worse and it’s now clear that his reactivity was due to fear. After just a phone call with Yorkshire K9 we were in a better place than we had been. We had two sessions with Martin and three sessions with Aylish - both were absolutely fantastic - thank you! We now have the tools to manage Barneys reactivity and build his confidence - he wears a slip lead collar, which was an absolute game changer (Barney is totally fine wearing it whereas he hated the halti collar, and ‘ignored’ the normal/flat collar) and can now walk to heel on command, understands leave and has much better - solid - recall (we can actually recall him out of the river, which I NEVER believed could be done!). Aylish showed me practically how I can stop Barney fixating on other dogs and avoiding the reactions, what his body signals show, helped us drop the lure and phase out rewards, and overall just really helped us build Barneys trust in us and ours in him, he is really engaged with us on walks now and his overall obedience outside the home has improved enormously. She has also been a fantastic support when we’ve had a blip in the road, where I’ve panicked in the moment and ended up letting Barney “deal with the situation” and - going about this alone, would’ve probably lost all my confidence and felt back at square one - but with Aylish, learned what I needed from it and moved on. I could go on and on but basically I now feel like we give Barney a good life, which is just the best feeling, I’m so thankful to Yorkshire K9!!!!

I paid for a block of 5, 1-1, training sessions with my young German Shepherd. We were having significant issues with him being reactive around other dogs, pulling like a truck on the lead and just some general behaviour issues. Since the first session, Martin helped us get a good platform to learn from and it’s improved in each session by altering what we needed to work on to improve further.I now have a good starting point to work with my dog further to perfect what we have been taught and walking him doesn’t feel like a chore anymore, it’s much more enjoyable.I would definitely recommend.

We booked Monty ( Doberman) age 11 mths in for training to get him to walk to heel. We had tried everything previously and even seen other trainers! nothing worked. After several sessions with Ruth and Aylish Monty now has excellent engagement and will walk to heel perfectly. We are now teaching him to walk to heel off lead too. If anybody is struggling with any aspects of dog training give these guys a call they are fantastic and very down to earth.Thank you Ruth & Aylish for all of your help and guidance.Dawn & Gareth

Martin has had an incredible impact on our three year old black lab, Arthur. in the past, we have tried various trainers and techniques to try and overcome Arthur’s lead reactivity towards other dogs, without success. Martin recommended that he take Arthur for a two week residential in order to overcome his fears. I think it is fair to say that he has had an amazing impact on Arthur‘s behaviour. Notably, it is also about training us, the humans! we have learnt some invaluable techniques, and are now putting them into practice, and feel we are well on the way to helping our dog to be less reactive, calmer, and generally a more relaxed animal. Last Friday we walked him down a busy road to the pub and sat and enjoyed a glass of wine whilst the dog like quietly on the floor. Not something that we could have achieved without the help of Martin. We would not hesitate to recommend Martin skills and abilities. In order to help you overcome your dogs challenges. Thank you, Martin!

Absolutely 100% recommend Yorkshire K9 Training! I called December 2022 in tears with my dachshund Kevin who was extremely reactive to other dogs and people. He would lunge, continuously bark, snarl and snort at anyone walking nearby and would not acknowledge us at all when trying to calm him down. I was four months pregnant at this time and taking him out was so stressful I would be in tears nearly every-time. K9 were great from the start giving me tips and advice with the first phone call. We have just finished his last session and I cannot thank Ruth and Martin enough! me and my partner now know how to properly manage his needs and walks are now enjoyable for all of us. The training really opened our eyes to what he really needed and made our bond stronger. His happy little trot on walks melts my heart everyday and he can now meet other people and dogs without any anxiety or fear, not just from Kevin but from myself and my partner too. Thank you again for everything you have done for our family! Anyone reading this who is struggling with their pooch, please give K9 a call!

What an amazing experience Flora and I had with training with Yorkshire K9.From the end of the first session i felt confident and in control.Kind, compassionate and knowledgeable team.. not only with Flora but with the other animals in my care.We live in an unusual setting... a cat sanctuary, many with disabilities.... and my tail tugging little terror stopped almost immediately after the first session.Thankyou so very much.
