The best restaurant and takeaway for many miles around! We travel from near Ross-On-Wye to go.Fantastic fish based menus regularly changing and always new specials.Both the takeaway and restaurant are equally excellent.Only Negative Feedback I would give is sometimes the chips are a bit hard, as if they have been fried for a 3rd time.

We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from someone local to the area. Upon arrival we received a warm welcome and were shown to our table, the service was prompt and professional. My husband popped out to make a call and joined me shortly after, his welcome was slightly less welcoming, greeted with a questionably toned “how can I help you?”, rather than a pleasant “Hello/welcome” that is expected when you visiting an out of the way eatery. The Head waiter was attentive knowledgeable and extremely professional, he made food suggestions which we took as a result. I started with the scallops, my husband, the octopus, (as per recommendation) of the two starters - the scallops were exceptional!! Again, on recommendation, I opted the fish of the day, my husband and daughter had the fish & chips. The portions were huge, pricing appropriate, quality high and flavours well executed. An interesting point to note, I needed to visit FaceBook to view the menu before visiting due to the website not sharing it - a peculiar omission for this type of establishment. Would I go again? For the food - absolutely - I love my food to be of a high quality, and full of flavour - this certainly delivered on that.The atmosphere, for a non regular visitor was mixed. More junior staff went out of their way to deliver great service, the more senior staff carried an aloofness that would only be adjusted to extend warm welcomes to regular ‘known’ guests. Traditional, consistent customer service, was missing from a percentage of the staff, which does sully the overall experience.Whether everyone would pick up on these particulars I don’t know, but as visitors to the area, we most certainly did , and as a result, we could not give a higher rating.

The Smokery is fabulous. The deli is great, but the fresh fish mongers is totally amazing; go there and properly discover all the delicious fish you've heard of, possibly eaten in restaurants, but have never cooked at home. Aside, the cafe is brilliant, and does the best eggs Arnold Bennett ever! And the restaurant....sublime. Service, ambiance, food, value......this place has it all!

Wonderful restaurant in a restored old barn. Excellent service and excellent food. We went for lunch to celebrate a birthday, our first visit, and will definitely go back. We bought kippers for breakfast tomorrow in the fab fishmongers downstairs. Thank you for a great experience.

I called in to purchase fresh fish as we like to when close by. The choice is phenomenal. The fishmonger knowledgeable and takes great care. I was lucky to buy two beautiful fresh blue finned tuna steaks from one of only six landed at Brixham and purchased by the smokery, and a beautiful mixed fish pie mix. The tuna was stunning, moist and tasty, the fish pie mix excellent as always. I made a beautiful fish chowder with it.

Visited the Deli. Good selection of upmarket produce plus an excellent fresh fish counter.It's not the cheapest, but as always, you get what you pay for.The Cafe/Restaurant looks very interesting although we didn't stop for a meal on this occasion. Added to our list of venues to try.

Love this place all-round and have visited a few times. The restaurant is exceptional and the range of seafood options top-quality and regularly updated. Always bring back some fresh fish to the mainland from the fishmongers. Farm shop and cafe also available. Highly recommend.

I called in to the smokery as a lone dinner, I was greeted from the bar tender who was absolutely lovely, very friendly. I was given a menu and within five minutes shown to a table I ordered the Mediterranean fish soup and chips, which will cook to perfection. The soup was absolutely gorgeous. The waiter was a French gentleman, very friendly, very helpful and as I was alone diner, I did not feel alone excellent place highly recommended have use before with my partner. Will definitely go again weather with my partner or by myself, thank you to all the staff at the wye Smokery
