Everything was excellent from the welcome to the table service. We could not complain about any of it. The food was fabulous and there was no rush when we asked to delay our desserts. Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.

The service from the team was friendly and the pub itself was quiant and had a great atmosphere. The food from the festive menu was good quality, large in size and great value. We really enjoyed our Christmas meal here and would recommend this pub.

Lovely place in a great setting. Pity the food doesn't match. My friend and I had Christmas fayre. We sent it back due to raise potatoes so hard we couldn't cut them, as were the parsnips. Sprouts were frozen and hard in the centre and the temperature of the food was tepid. It came back marginally better but potatoes were still hard. The people on the next table also left theirs. I had a creme brulee which was like cold custard. The place itself was cold and we sat with coats on. The service was OK pity the rest wasn't up.to scratch. Sorry but we won't be returning.

Came for a Sunday Lunch. There was a bit of a wait on the food to arrive, but our waitress Aliyah made it a hassle free experience. Although she seemed busy, she always made time to make sure we had everything we need. I ordered the Sunday Trio, which was one of the nicest Sunday lunches I’ve had in a while. The environment was perfect for these cold winter days. I will definitely plan on coming back.

Absolutely lovely pub. Fires crackling. Lots of well behaved puppos and delicious food. My puppy absolutely loved her first pub experience and had lots of fuss from the staff. Defo will recommend.

Popped in for a drink and a bite to eat. Upon approaching and entering the pub after I'd parked up, I thought I'd struck gold. In fairness it's close to being the perfect cosy country pub. Beautifully presented inside, plenty distinct corners to lose yourself in, lots of cosy old fashioned charm. The leather sofa I plonked myself on - wonderfully comfortable. Lots of comfortable furniture throughout. I ordered a lager shandy, and some halloumi fries that were outstanding. Juicy, fat, crisp with a lovely piquant yet smoky relish on the side for dipping. At £3.95 brilliantly priced as well.So why no 5 stars? Before leaving, I had to nip to the loo - and here is one of my golden rules of eating out. The toilets are a public area that requires cleanliness; if these aren't decent, what are the areas like that one can't see (ie kitchen)? The first thing that hit me on the way in - the eye-watering sour stench that turns the stomach and burns the eyes. The source- leaking urinal and the river of malodours sticky liquid spilling across the floor underneath. There was a yellow warning sign in here - they are aware of it, but on a quiet mid afternoon, no one takes it upon themselves too check how the leaky toilet is getting on. The walls had holes in and the decor - given how beautiful the rest of the pub is, was a tired, old and coming away (literally when you saw the gaps on the wall where the old English drawings/paintings used to live). While it's a low score, it is really easy to fix this. Sort the gents out and you have a top tier English county pub.

Lovely pub. Wish it was sunny as wanted to sit on the patio and watch the barges go up and down.

Today was my first time visiting the Anchor Inn. I popped in for an early lunch, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of service.A lovely waitress named Aaliyah served us. She was incredibly attentive and ensured our visit was perfect. Will definitely be coming again!
