The Sherwood
Went to the Sherwood for lunch and found a good menu with some good options for lunch. Prices were good and we opted for a couple of small mac'n'cheese bowls served with a garlic bread slice followed by fruit crumble with ice cream and custard.Food was good but not special although good enough for the price charged.

I didnt go myself but my mum and dad took my mums parents. None of them ate everything but I think this was partly because of the temperature in the place. There was a draught running through the pub. My dad and my mums dad are unwell and struggle when it is cold. They weren't the only ones cold either. There were veterans in the pub having to sit in their coats. Several people asked for the heating on and was told by the man behind the bar that he wouldn't turn the heat in on as he was warm. Why does he matter more than paying customers? If there was just one person complaining fair enough but there wasn't. If people have to sit in their coats inside the pub that should have been a big clue the pub is cold. I think whoever the man was that refused to turn the heating on is a very selfish person it is remembrance day for veterans like the ones that sat in the pub in their coats. Older people get colder easier so need the warmth and catering for them while they are in the pub is a must, but not today it wasn't. They went to war so we could live the lives we live. The man should be ashamed of himself and my family and I will never set foot in the pub again

Birthday Disaster!I visited here recently with my son for a birthday tea. The pub was busy with a distinct lack of staff so we ordered at the table and the drinks arrived about 10 to 15 minutes before the meals. My son had ordered a burger and chips which arrived hot but didn't resemble the picture on the menu, I had ordered a surf and turf which was supposed to be delivered on a sizzling platter but was not and whilst the chips were hot the steak was cold. I tried to get the attention of the waitress and failed so eventually took my meal back to the bar. There was a member of staff that wasn't serving but was very friendly and I explained that the chips were hot but the steak cold and could it please be replaced. About 5 minutes later a replacement arrived at the table and the lady said I will come and check on you in a few minutes. Unfortunately yet again the platter was not sizzling, the chips were hot but the steak only warm and undercooked and bloody. I tried to get the attention of the waitress who passed the table on several occasions but who ignored me so I waited for the same lady to come back, by which time my son was now finishing his meal. I complained that yet again it was cold and this time undercooked as well, I explained it was supposed to be my son's birthday tea and wanted a refund for my meal as I wasn't going to bother. She apologised and did refund the entire meal which was appreciated but after been given 2 cold meals and the last one very undercooked I would not return. Absolute joke and if they can't cook a steak let alone serve it hot on a sizzling platter" it makes a joke of the term on the menu....obvious lack of staff and training!!"

Amazing food. The classic hot dog was delicious. A lovely refreshing pint of Coors to wash it down with as well. The staff were filled with joy and made the visit very memorable. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to a friend

Our first visit to the Sherwood for lunch with friends. It was a Monday & very quiet hence the low atmosphere score. I ordered scampi & chips, both crisp & tasty, came with the usual tiny portion of peas ( they're cheap give us more please). I enjoyed my meal as did my four companions. The staff were friendly & efficient, so would definitely go again.

It's pretty much hit and miss at the moment. I go in most Fridays, with my father in law. We tend to stick to the steak, as you can really mess that up, or so you'd think. I mistakenly changed and went for the mixed grill, something I won't make the mistake of doing again. The staff this time seemed bored, but there was a few faces missing. But the atmosphere was totally lacking, especially the woman who thought we where a bit boisterous for her child, at 7.30pm in a pub

Went with my son and grandson for dinner, the food was good and at a reasonable price. Kim and the staff are really nice and make you feel welcome. This is a family friendly pub and a nice place to go for a meal

I wasn't expecting much tbh as the price point and presentation of the menu suggested microwave meal. In these cases I always go for steak as it has to be cooked. However, the onions, onion rings and mushrooms tasted like they were fried in gear oil! Prawns were barely cooked. Really quite disappointed. Having said that, it wasn't expensive and perhaps my expectations are the issue.
