Quay West Car Park

One of the few places anywhere where you can park right next to the sea and watch the waves. Ok, the waves are often a long way out but when the tide is in and the sun is shining it’s a great place to park up. The Public toilets are basic but clean. Lovely walks along Culvercliff and up into the woods to make a round trip, there is even a cold water tap and water bowl for dogs at the car park end. Sometimes there is a van selling coffee and the Old Ship Aground is right there too. Sunday mornings you can usually catch the Lifeboat being taken out for training. The only negative is it’s popularity with motorhome and campervan owners. They are perfectly entitled to be there of course, but some take up more than one of the limited spaces and several stay overnight, which is probably against local bylaws (there used to be a sign) but it doesn’t seem to be enforced.Parking is charged 9am to 6pm in the summer and new pay and display machines have just been installed that need your car registration. It’s far simpler to PayByPhone but be sure to select the right machine. As far as I know on street parking is District Council and the car park by the toilets is County Council and the parking wardens only seem to have access to the District Council system.

Large and easily accessible. Some difficulty in seeing screens at pay points due to the sun. Reasonable prices for parking and within easy reach of a lovely sandy beach. Beware no shade on hot and sunny days.

Nice and quite place with a brilliant view of the sea to have some rest after a long drive. The sound of the beach is so peaceful in this place only think I don't like is parking boad says no overnight sleeping or caravan parked overnight while the car park is empty they could have made more money and attract more visitors by allowing it

Brilliant views both day and night looking over to Cardiff.Bring good walking shoes of you want to walk around the stoney beach but be Prepared to find unique shaped rocks.Short walk down is a small cafe and a pub.

Beautiful place fer a stroll, excellent place fer fishing. Disabled parking, public toilets, pub, tackle shop all there.

Access is good for parking to walk prom and harbour area. Large boulder beach""

Lots of campervans parking overnight seems like a good idea. Toilets nearby are free. Not far from harbour for boat trips
