Visited during the Open House weekend. They've done here magnificent work of restoration. Especially the Locarno conference room, the India Council room, and the Goetze murals. Impressive.

A magnificent Victorian building that has been carefully restored to its former glory.

Very helpful advice line. Just had the need to call re a decision critical and slightly urgent travel question. The initial navigation to get to the correct part of the service was a little unclear (hence 4 stars) but the knowledge and patience of the person on the line was excellent, and the wait was less than 5 minutes. Very reassuring. Keep up the good work with your staff F&CO

Absolutely rubbish. Couldn't give a toss about British people abroad until it involves repatriation of dead bodies. Living people just need to drop dead. If you have lost power on your battery, give them a call. Gee how? If you are stranded because the airport and Airways staff pushed off home having left you for 13 hours with no food or water. Contact your airline. GEE How? They all went home. Temperatures tomorrow will be even colder than today. And the airport will fill with thousands more people. Who won't be going anywhere. If someone had put people on a train 13 hours ago instead of locking them on a plane on a runway. They could be in England now. And the snowflakes think shouting involves anything more than a whisper. They would be utterly useless in any crisis. 0/10 for effort, 0/10 for ability, 0/10 for compassion.

Open house weekend 2019. Only had to wait ten minutes to get in. Beautiful building and helpful volunteers. Just wish there was a option for a tour. The lady explaining input the Enigma was very knowledgable. Thank you.

we needed a marriage certificate legalised from the FCDO we paid for this service on the 20th of April and sent them the document which they received on the27th we were told it could take up to 20 days to processed. On the 20th of may we chased it up to be told it had not been processed yet then when they did process the document they give it to a courier that does not deliver overseas on the 26th of May so it sat in a room for 3 days before being given to another courier that did not leave a tracking number and it took a lot of phoning around to find out that late on the 30th of may it had not even left the country we paid extra to get a faster service. If i personally was sending mail abroad i would employ a courier service that delivered abroad but that just shows the incompetence of the British civil service.

Though typically closed to the public, would highly recommend a tour of the FCO building if ever the opportunity arises. The impeccably maintained artwork and interior design is first class, unlike anything else in the city. Extensive grand hallways, paintings, carvings, domes, arched hallways and stonework set the FCO apart. Would be helpful to have more plaques/information available about the history of the building, the artists who did the paintings, what the imagery means, etc.
