From servicing to general maintenance to occasional warranty work with 1st XJ, Derek and Gordon as well as the rest of team have taken great care with my car. After visiting and being messed about by two well known garages in the High Barnet area to help me with my Jaguar XJ8 I was at a dead end being told that I will have to replace my gearbox. My car was juddering and making heavy clunking noises from the gearbox area at stationary or slow speeds. I was not convinced it was a gearbox issue from the beginning but at the same time, didn't have anyone to turn to and knowing that I would have to take a 2nd mortgage to visit Grange Jaguar in Barnet, I was stuck.I went to see Daryl at G&M Reed who I have known for quite a long time and regard well for straight forward and friendly advice. Daryl was very honest and stated that he can't work on my car but he knew a man who can.Queue G&D in Welwyn, from the minute I walked in, I was greeted with professionalism and courtesy. Derek literally needed 10 mins to check the codes and knew immediately what the problem was (rear ABS sensor and replacement coil pack), he ordered the parts there and then and we made a further booking to bring the car back in.Unlike other garages who seem to think car owners have endless sources of funds to investigate the myriad problems that can go wrong with a car and then move onto what else it could be, at your cost (pride issue I think?), Derek was absolutely bang on with his diagnostics and I am finally able to drive my car for the first time with a smile on my face!If you own a Jaguar and don't want to be ripped off by a Jaguar main dealer, go and visit the gents at G&D. You will not be disappointed in terms of service, knowledge and cost. I will not be going anywhere else from now on in spite of Welwyn being 30 mins away from where I live.Thank you so much Derek.

Our Jaguar F pace developed problems on a journey from Yorkshire to Welwyn yesterday. I googled Jag garages (not dealerships), and found good reviews so I called in first thing as we wanted to return home today. I was so pleased with the way my concerns were handled. G&D certainly know what they are doing when it comes to Jaguars. I have owned Jags for years, currently have an XK8 and previously used a Jaguar specialist in Waltham Abbey, where I was very happy to take my cars for many years. Unfortunately the original owner and wife (Jag enthusiasts) retired and sold their business, it had an excellent reputation and client base, good luck to them!The new owner however seemed more concerned how much he could charge for the job, rather putting you car back in order sympathetically, always with excuses as to why he could not achieve the proposed timescale when you dropped it off, quite often with an additional charge.I was recommended to G & D three years ago and haven't looked back. They have looked after my car since the first visit, their service level is just like I received before, I have confidence in them, they provide a good service, offer sensible advice & charge a fair price for a very good job. Thank you, I am happy again, please don't retire whilst I still have my Jag!
