Avoid going for a job hereHighly disingenuous and impossible questions to Answer; even Giving a correct answer is not enough.3 people to interview for a Temporary role is excessive. Will only call at the end of the day to reject you. They will only hire the Internal staff so be sure to find out BEFORE you go to the interview whether they have internal candidates for the role. This a dodgy practise used time and time again; you have zero chance at the job if Internal Staff are in the running.BewareAnd so much for “Safeguarding” when they build your hopes up only to drop you with very poor excuses. If you can’t LIE your way through the interview then they don’t want to know.Your OWN personal experience is not what they want; they want Lies.

I live in the Durham area and have had various dealings with the Council over the last 40 years. The responses of this organisation to my suggestions and complaints have been very variable - from outstanding to indifferent. There in no consistency from one department to another. Replies depend on who you speak to and how the contact is made (e.g. 'phone, email or letter). Those higher up in the Council have more flexibility and, very often, much more common sense. In this respect, Durham County Council is no different to other large organisations. Although it may take longer, my advice is always to contact the Council by letter; if necessary with a copy to the Chief Executive.

The roads are an absolute disgrace, I can only attribute such an atrocious neglect to the council that are responsible for this. Gerry Jones who is listed as the highway engineer for the council must do better than this

Would give zero stars. Eyeballs out in council tax as its extortionate, for the roads to be terrible, bin men are lazy, litter everywhere ypu look and to top it off you get fined for on street parking for being minutes late after assisting someones medical needs. Greedy and corrupt

You are not doing too well are you DCC? Only 2.5 stars out of a possible 5? I am not surprised. Recently returned to this county I find that most roads are in an appalling state of repair ... I wonder why you do not have the money to repair? After all, surely you get your fair share of the road fund license ? And what a high level of disparity. Why are you spending so much on new premises when what you have now is adequate in times of national emergency? Why do you hide behind using the internet which is no excuse for proper communication with the people you are there to serve?

My mother passed over 9 months ago, and I believed after paying all debts everything was cleared. Then out of the blue Durham County cancel debt team started hounding me with phone calls and emails about a debt they had just found, due to their apparent backlog.I unfortunately had no evidence after this time span of bills paid etc. And was left at the mercy of their higglty pigglty invoicing system which made no sense at all.I was then hounded again once they had invoiced for payment. At no time did they show any compassion for my bereavement or for the fact I no longer had any information to prove debts were paid. The only words they wanted to hear were when payment was being made, which I did immediately as like my mother I would always pay a debt.My only words for the way this whole affair was handled is SHAMEFUL

Whilst on a 3 day holiday to Durham my three sisters and I visited the Town Hall today. The visit was made very special by Dawn and the help of the receptionist. Dawn was warm welcoming professional entertaining and full of lots of information of the town hall, the Guildhall and Count Boruwlaski. They made our time with them a highlight of this short holiday.Thank you 6 April 2023highlights if this shirt holiday.

So utterly utterly useless the list of incompetence. From closing streets with no obvious planning and communication, (ie make it easy for people to see the fact you close the city for a stupid fun run without communicating) no cycling policy (or was the cycling policy a lucky dip / heads or tails) to road repairs with as much use as chocolate tea pot... the list goes on
