Lake Waverley
Perfect spot to sit and relax with a picnic and watch the swans and other birds. Found by accident during a walk but pleased we did!

Two ponds with a huge amount of waterfowl and great for walking around. Pathways could do with a bit of an upgrade as the surface water running off from the banking surrounding the smaller pond made for a significant amount of squelching underfoot. Could also benefit from the addition of some bench seating.Fit this in with a walk alongside the River Rother, where the rocks make an interesting rapids effect, Treeton Dyke and, if you're lucky, a bit of railway spotting crossing the bridge on the way to Treeton Dyke.

No traffic noise, peaceful, loving view, my grandson loved the lake with the swans and small play area. Love to live there but can't afford the house prices.

Will be good, but needs tidying up and trees planting to make it an desirable destination.

The lake is on an old colliery site, which has now been reclaimed and landscaped. It is close to the new Waverley housing estate and the advanced manufacturing park. The lake is free to visit, with free parking available in the streets of the new housing estate. As of 2018 there is still some building work going on, but this is unlikely to detract from your visit to the lake.

Nice walk with treeton dyke close by too. To walk around both it will take at lease 90 minutes. There is lots of hills around the lake giving great view's of the area. Get your camera ready. You will us it.

One of the best birdwatching sites in the Rotherham/Sheffield area. Known locally as Orgreave Lakes over 180 species of bird have been recorded there since 2009.
